Showbiz Top 5: Juan Pablo calls gays ‘more pervert’ in interview

Ride Along is number one at the box office… Dennis Rodman enters rehab… Madonna calls her son Rocco the N-word… Justin Bieber is encouraged to check into rehab… and Juan Pablo calls gays ‘more pervert’ in interview

I’m sure our interview with Ice Cube on Friday was what put it over the top. “Ride Along” was number one at the box office over the weekend, earning $41.2 million. That’s the biggest opening ever for a movie released during the MLK Jr. Day weekend. The Navy SEAL drama “Lone Survivor” starring Mark Wahlberg came in second with $23.2 million. And the new animated movie “The Nut Job” featuring the voices of Will Arnett and Katherine Heigl opened in third with $20.5 million.

Dennis Rodman checked himself into rehab to be treated for alcoholism. This isn’t Dennis’ first stint in rehab. He’s sought treatment several times over the years, including season three of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.” That’s the same season the late Mindy McCready tried to get help. Dennis recently returned to the US after a faux pas-filled trip to North Korea, where he offended pretty much everyone on the planet. Dennis tried to apologize and admitted he’d been drinking the whole time he was there. His agent told USA Today, “What was potentially a historic and monumental event turned into a nightmare for everyone concerned. Dennis Rodman came back from North Korea in pretty rough shape emotionally. The pressure that was put on him to be a combination ‘super human’ political figure and ‘fixer’ got the better of him. He is embarrassed, saddened and remorseful for the anger and hurt his words have caused.”

When Madonna posted an Instagram of her 13-year-old son and his friends holding bottles of alcohol, she berated her critics, telling us all to stop judging and get a sense of humor. But she was way more apologetic after she posted another picture of her son Rocco boxing with the caption, “No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn****.” Rather than tell us to all get a sense of humor this time, Madonna issued a statement saying, “I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me.”

TMZ is reporting that people close to Justin Bieber are encouraging him to go to rehab to deal with his drug problem. Sources say Justin is a big fan of the sizzurp and on his worst days, he downs between 8 and 12 ounces. And from what I’ve learned, that’s A LOT.  Sources also say Justin prefers Actavis Promethazine with codeine cough syrup, which apparently is top-of-the-line stuff. The street value runs around $800 a pint, but if Justin’s paying that, he’s getting ripped off because I found it online — 16 oz. for $11. Anyway……sources told TMZ that when authorities searched Justin’s house for evidence in that egging incident, they found 4 or 5 empty codeine bottles, two large cookie jars filled with marijuana, three bongs, and graffiti-covered styrofoam cups everywhere. The source says Justin likes to mix his sizzurp with pineapple Fanta and drinks them out of styrofoam cups. Once he’s done, he draws all over them with markers.

Juan Pablo says he is muy sorry. On Friday, he was at a network party promoting “The Bachelor” when he was asked by a reporter for TheTVPage.com about the possibility of a gay bachelor starring in the series. Juan Pablo didn’t hesitate, saying, “I don’t think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV.” And then he went on about how he respects how everybody wants to have kids but it’s hard for him to understand two fathers having kids. And then he added, “There’s this thing about gay people…It seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not…but they’re more ‘pervert’ in a sense. And to me, the show would be too strong…too hard to watch.” After feeling the wrath of ABC and people everywhere, Juan Pablo says he’s sorry. He said, “The comment was taken out of context. If you listen to the entire interview, there’s nothing but respect for Gay people and their families. I have many gay friends and one of my closest friends who’s like a brother…The word ‘pervert’ was not what I meant to say and I am very sorry about it. Everyone knows English is my second language and my vocabulary is not as broad as it is in Spanish and, because of this, sometimes I use the wrong words to express myself. I meant to say was that gay people are more affectionate and intense and for a segment of the TV audience this would be too racy to accept. The show is very racy as it is and I don’t let my 5 year old daughter watch it. Once again, I’m sorry for how my words were taken. I would never disrespect anyone.”
