“Noah” was number one at the box office… “Good Morning America” co-host jumping ship… Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron are engaged… Chelsea Handler is moving on… and Juan Pablo got a drink in the face
“Noah” was number one at the box office this weekend, with $44 million. Add that to the $95 million it’s made overseas and it’s topped the $130 million it cost to make. Second place was “Divergent” with $26.5 million and third was “Muppets Most Wanted” with $11.4 million. And by the way, over the weekend, “Frozen” became the highest grossing animated movie ever, with $1.072 billion worldwide.
After Robin Roberts nailed down her $14 million contract, “Good Morning America” co-host Josh Elliott went into negotiations. Sources say he’s been making $1.2 million and he was thinking he’s worth at least $10 million. ABC reportedly came back with $5 million, but that wasn’t enough to satisfy Josh’s ego. He’s jumping ship for NBC Sports. ABC is replacing him immediately with Amy Robach, who filled in for Robin while she recovered from her bone marrow transplant. Last week, GMA finalized a deal with Lara Spencer to remain with the show with Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron are engaged. In other words, her career didn’t take off like she’d planned, so she’s happy to latch on to that potential NFL paycheck. Katherine tweeted the happy news on Friday, “WE’RE ENGAGEDDD!!!” And then she posted a picture of the huge rock that AJ designed himself.
After 8 years hosting “Chelsea Lately,” when her contract with E! is up at the end of the year, Chelsea Handler is moving on. Her manager Irving Azoff told the “Hollywood Reporter,” “She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.” Chelsea recently told Howard Stern that the E! network is a “sad, sad place to live…They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.”
Some people take reality TV a little TOO seriously. Juan Pablo was doing an appearance at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City when a woman walked up to him, called him a “f***ing douche bag” and threw her drink in his face. Security quickly escorted her delicately to the curb. Juan Pablo remained at the event, where his girlfriend Nikki Ferrell joined him around 1am. “Us Weekly” was there, too, and Juan Pablo told the magazine, “We have a long distance relationship, but we are talking about many things.”
