HGTV debuting new shows… Bulldozers on Harpo Studios… Jenni Rivera lawsuit… Michael Jackson’s nephews have a lawsuit too… and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian talk nude selfies
People just can’t get enough of house hunting and fixer uppers! HGTV is seeing a huge surge in ratings, thanks to shows like Fixer Upper (averaging 4.6 million viewers), Flip or Flop (2.8 million) and Brother vs. Brother (2.6 million). Personally, if I never see another episode of Love It or List It, I’ll be perfectly okay. Is there NEVER an episode where SOMETHING doesn’t go wrong and ruins Hilary’s remodeling plans?? UGH!! Anyway, HGTV is the top-rated entertainment channel on cable this month! They’ve got two new shows debuting soon. First is The Monica Potter Project. After her show Parenthood ended, Monica had some free time on her hands so she went to Cleveland to restore their childhood home and HGTV’s cameras captured all the drama. And HGTV is going to follow Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade as they flip their home in Florida.
You know that song that goes, “They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.” Well, in this case, they’re tearing down paradise and putting up a McDonald’s…sort of. Oprah left Chicago for LA, so bulldozers brought down her old Harpo Studios and McDonald’s is building their new headquarters in her old space.
On December 9, 2012, a private jet crashed in Nuevo Leon. Everyone on board the Learjet was killed — Jenni Rivera, four members of her entourage and the two pilots. According to TMZ, the families of Jenni’s entourage — her publicist, makeup artist, hairstylist and lawyer — have been awarded $70 million in damages. It was a default judgment. The company that owned the Learjet — Starwood Management — abandoned its defense in the case. Jenni’s family still has an active lawsuit going against Starwood.
Three of Michael Jackson’s nephews have filed a $100 million libel lawsuit against Radar Online, after they suggested Michael may have sexually abused the boys and then gave them expensive gifts to keep their mouths shut. Taj, TJ and Taryll Jackson — who made up the group 3T — filed the lawsuit yesterday. But Radar says they have documents from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department to back up their story.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West posed for Harper’s Bazaar’s ICONS issue in September and gave the magazine a little peak inside their everyday lives. Kanye admitted that he LOVES Kim’s nude selfies, which she freely shares with the public. Kanye said Kim’s nakedness is art. He said, “I feel like it’s almost a Renaissance thing, a painting, a modern version of a painting. I think it’s important for Kim to have her figure. To not show it would be like Adele not singing.”
