Weekend box office… Best & worst Super Bowl commercials… Tristan Thompson ‘has done nothing’… Britney ‘secretly married’… and Kanye West sends Kim Kardashian a truck full of roses

Yes, it was Super Bowl weekend…but it was also Valentine’s Day weekend. Maybe the movie studios thought women would leave their men at home and go to the movies? Not so much. “Death on the Nile” opened with $12.8M for a first place finish. This thing cost $90M to make, so it’s got a long way to go to get that money back. Covid caused Disney to delay releasing the movie for the longest time, but there was also the Armie Hammer situation. At first Disney considered editing Armie out but then they decided to just release the movie anyway, pushing Gal Gadot as much as possible. With $8.1M, “Jackass Forever” barely beat out “Marry Me” for second place. But for whatever reason, they decided to release “Marry Me” on Peacock which most definitely impacted Jennifer Lopez’s box office receipts. She opened with $8M.

The annual “USA Today” Super Bowl Ad Meter results are in. These rankings are based on scores from around 150K panelists. Who are the panelists? Unclear. But they decided their favorite commercial was Rocket Homes and Rocket Mortgage’s Dream House with Anna Kendrick and Barbie. They are wrong. They are also wrong about the second favorite, Amazon’s Mind Reader with Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost. And it keeps getting “wronger” from there. Number three is the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Cool Ranch Doritos spot with Megan Thee Stallion voicing the bird and Charlie Puth as the fox. The worst three were Bud Light Next with Zero in the Way of Possibility, eToro’s Flying Your Way, and the worst of the worst, Coinbase’s bouncing QR code.

The DNA proved the baby was his, but what has Tristan Thompson done since then? Apparently, not a dang thing. A tabloid had reported that Tristan was on the hook to Maralee Nichols for $120K/month in child support. But through her rep, Maralee said, “Despite news reports stating otherwise, Tristan Thompson has done nothing to support their son. He has not made any attempt to meet their son nor has he provided any financial assistance.” Maralee conceived Tristan’s third child — a boy — while he was still dating Khloe Kardashian. The boy was born in December but Maralee has yet to reveal his name.

A lot of Britney Spears’ fans are wondering if she and Sam Asghari have secretly gotten married. For Valentine’s Day, Sam posted a photo of him and Britney posing in a mirror. He’s wearing what could easily be a wedding tuxedo complete with a boutonnière, but she’s wearing an outfit more fit for a night on the town. But in his caption, Sam referenced that age-old saying, “Happy wife, happy life,” which has people thinking he’s hinting that these two have already gotten hitched.

Kanye West is not giving up on his marriage. For Valentine’s Day, Kanye sent a truck with a bed filled with roses and “MY VISION IS KRYSTAL KLEAR” plastered on the side to Kim’s house. She wasn’t home. Kim was in NYC celebrating her first Valentine’s Day with Pete Davidson. Kanye shared some text messages between him and Kim, where she’s expressing concerns for Pete’s safety. She texted, “U are creating a dangerous and scary environment and someone will hurt Pete and this will all be your fault.” Kanye then posted a screenshot of the text on his Instagram and captioned it, “Upon my wife’s request, please nobody do anything physical to Skete. I’m going to handle the situation myself.” Kim sent another text telling Kanye, “There are dangerous people out there and this is scary and it doesn’t have to be.” He responded, “I will always do everything to protect you and our family forever. And I listened to you and told everyone to make sure nothing physical happens to Skete.” Kim thanked Kanye for that but then he shared a screenshot of that. Kim texted him again asking, “Why can’t you keep any of our conversations private???” And he answered, “Cause I got a text from my favorite person in the world. I’m your number one fan. Why wouldn’t I tell everyone!!!!” And yes, he posted that, too. Since then, Kanye has deleted all those messages and almost everything else from his IG feed.
