Box office news… Alec Baldwin is done with public life and NYC… Brooke Burke-Charvet fired from “Dancing with the Stars”… Will Jennifer Lopez be on a drama series?… and Katy Perry considered for Vin Diesel’s next “xXx” movie

“The Lego Movie” is still going strong at the box office. It’s number one for the third straight week, taking in another $31.5 million. Kevin Costner’s “3 Days to Kill” was way behind in second with $12.3 million. And “Pompeii” debuted in third with $10 million. It has a long way to go to make up for its $100 million budget!!

Alec Baldwin says he’s had enough of public life and NYC. He told “New York” magazine, “I’ve lived this for 30 years, I’m done with it…I’m aware that it’s ironic that I’m making this case in the media, but this is the last time I’m going to talk about my personal life in an American publication ever again.” Apparently 2013 was a very bad year for Alec. Despite the fact that he and his wife had a baby, he said, “Everything else was pretty awful.” He was accused of homophobia, which cost him his TV show on MSNBC. He said, “Now I loathe and despise the media in a way I did not think possible.” But what about the city he’s called home since 1979?? He said, “I just can’t live in New York anymore. Everything I hated about LA I’m beginning to crave. LA is a place where you live behind a gate, you get in a car, your interaction with the public is minimal. I used to hate that. But New York has changed.”

After serving as co-host for seven years, Brooke Burke-Charvet was blindsided when she was fired from “Dancing with the Stars.”  She released a statement on Friday saying, “I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture. I’ve always been one to embrace change and am looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn’t able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I’ve seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom, but this one takes the cake.”  So who’s taking her place? “People” is reporting that Erin Andrews will be Tom Bergeron’s new partner on the sidelines when “Dancing with the Stars” returns on March 17.

Maybe she’s ready to settle down in one place for a while. Jennifer Lopez has signed on to play the lead in an NBC drama called “Shades of Blue.” She’ll play a detective who’s recruited to work for the FBI. Oh! And she’s also a single mom, which gives her character a little more to play with. Jennifer is really loving the small screen. Not only is she back as a judge on “American Idol,” she also produces “The Fosters” on ABC Family and she has her own Latin series, “Q’Viva! The Chosen.”

Katy Perry is being considered for the female lead in Vin Diesel’s next “xXx” action movie. He wrote on Facebook last month, “As you know, the new XXX script finally comes in next month…and just this morning people are suggesting Katy Perry as the new X girl.” Depending on her schedule, Katy’s audition will happen in the next few weeks, although she already tweeted, “YES VIN DIESEL” Meantime, Katy is losing favor with the paparazzi. She was almost an hour late for the Moschino show in Milan on Thursday and when she finally walked the runway to pose for photographers, the crowd started heckling her. She got an attitude and told the photographers, “You’re all going to get your picture, so shut the @#*% up!” That’s when they turned on her and started booing.
