Will “Despacito” beat the record?… “American Idol” has canceled auditions… Sofia Vergara scored a win… Todrick Hall can keep a secret… and Kevin Hart challenges celebrities to donate
“Despacito” has been number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 weeks. Do you know what that means?? Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee have now tied Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men for spending the most time at the top of the charts. Mariah and the Boyz set the record back in 1996 with their song “One Sweet Day.” But if Luis and Daddy can just hold on to that spot for one more week, the record will be all theirs!
“American Idol” has canceled auditions in Houston and San Antonio. Blame it on Hurricane Harvey. Auditions were scheduled for Houston this Saturday and San Antonio on Monday. When they made the cancellation announcement on their Twitter, producers suggested other ways for those who’d planned on auditioning in those cities to audition, including submitting a video audition on the show’s website or attending one of the auditions in Louisiana.
Are we calling this EmbryoGate? Sofia Vergara scored a win against her ex-fiance Nick Loeb, who’s been suing her over their frozen embryos. Now that she’s married to Joe Manganiello, Sophia wants them destroyed. Nick wants the embryos, which he named Emma and Isabella, to be carried by a surrogate so he can raise them. But Sofia has scored a win in her ongoing battle with Nick. A federal judge in Louisiana has tossed out the case, saying the embryos are citizens of California, which is where they were conceived. Louisiana is the only state where embryos have legal rights of their own, which is why Nick filed his lawsuit there.
YouTube star Todrick Hall is featured in Taylor Swift’s video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” and he told Entertainment Tonight that he got a call from Taylor a while back saying that she was working on a top secret project that she wanted him to be part of and trusted him not to tell anyone. And of course he didn’t! Todrick said they shot the video back and every single person kept their mouths shut because people really respect her and she treats everyone so well. He said that on the day the video came out, she sent everyone involved a beautiful bouquet with a thank you note. Meantime, Page Six says they’ve learned that those diamonds filling the bathtub in Taylor’s video are all REAL, on loan from Neil Lane, and worth well over $10 million.
We’re hearing about more celebrities making donations to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Dwayne Johnson accepted Kevin Hart’s challenge to donate $25K, but said he wasn’t going to call out other celebrities by name — like Kevin did. Sandra Bullock donated a million dollars to the Red Cross. And the Kardashians pooled together their funds to donate half a million dollars to relief efforts.
