Benedict Cumberbatch says he was an “idiot” when he referred to black actors as “colored.” During an interview with Tavis Smiley on PBS last week, Benedict was talking about diversity in the entertainment industry and he said that “as far as colored actors go,” there were more opportunities in the U.S. than Britain, “and that’s something that needs to change.” Benedict issued a statement yesterday apologizing for his “thoughtless use of inappropriate language.” He said, “I’m devastated to have caused offence by using this outmoded terminology. I offer my sincere apologies. I make no excuse for my being an idiot and know the damage is done.”

Phillip Phillips is suing to get out of his American Idol contract. He claims that Idol producer 19 Entertainment and its affiliated companies have “manipulated” him. He claims he was forced to perform free for JetBlue (one of Idol’s sponsors) and that 19 Entertainment gets as much as a 40% cut of all his endorsements. They didn’t even tell him the title of his second album until it was publicly announced! In a statement, Phillip said, “I am very grateful for the opportunities provided to me through appearing on American Idol. The value that the fans and the show have given to my career is not lost on me. However, I have not felt that I have been free to conduct my career in a way that I am comfortable with. I look forward to being able to make my own choices about my career and to being able to make great music and play it for my fans.”

Is Lena Dunham engaged to fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff? Earlier this month she was spotted wearing what looked like an engagement ring and this past weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, Lena referred to Jack’s sister as her “sister-in-law. When a reporter asked her about it, Lena refused to comment.

Chris Brown was supposed to kick off his Between the Sheets tour with Kendrick Lamar in Hampton, VA, tonight, but last night he went on Instagram to let his fans know the tour has to be postponed. A judge says Chris can’t leave California until he finishes his remaining 100 hours of community service.

Get ready for the big announcement! Kim Kardashian is laying the groundwork for her stepdad Bruce Jenner to reveal publicly what he’s been trying to do privately. While doing an interview with ET that will air later today, Kevin Frazier HAD to ask, “Can we get to the bottom of what’s going on with Bruce?” Kim said, “We support Bruce no matter what. I will say I think Bruce should tell his story his way.” When asked whether Bruce is “going through something,” Kim would only say, “I think everyone goes through things in life, but I do think that that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he’ll share whenever the time is right.” And I’m guessing the time will be right during the upcoming season of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
