Not enough people took my advice and went to see “Bullet Train” over the weekend. Yes, it was number one at the box office, but only with $30.1M. Critics aren’t loving it, which may have poisoned some people against it. it’s got a long way to go before it makes up the $90M it cost to make. Coming in second was “DC League of Super Pets,” which took in another $11.2M in its second week of release. Third place was “Nope,” adding another $8.5M to its coffers in its third week out. “Top Gun: Maverick” has finally dropped out of the top 5, coming in sixth this weekend with $7M. But “Top Gun: Maverick” has now earned over $662M at the US box office, passing by “Titanic” to become the 7th highest grossing movie in US history.

Selena Gomez’s next movie project is reportedly a reboot of the 1988 movie “Working Girl,” which made a star out of Melanie Griffith. According to Deadline, Selena is in final negotiations to be a producer on the film, but will she star in it? No other details are available at this time, but Deadline says the movie would likely premiere on Hulu. Meantime, Selena celebrated her 30th birthday on a yacht in Positano, Italy, and she was being super snuggly with Italian movie producer Andrea Iervolino. He co-produced Selena’s 2016 movie “In Dubious Battle.”

Kevin Federline did a lengthy interview with a reporter for “The Daily Mail,” parts of which will be broadcast in the UK this week. Kevin shares two sons with Britney Spears, 16-year-old Preston and 15-year-old Jayden. Kevin said Preston and Jayden chose not to go to their mother’s recent wedding because they’re not seeing her right now. Apparently, the boys are embarrassed about the nude photos Britney’s been posting on Instagram since her conservatorship ended. Kevin said he felt compelled to apologize to his sons, saying, “I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school.” Britney has something to say about all this. She posted on her IG Story, “It saddens me to hear that my ex husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children… As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone…It concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram…it was LONG before Instagram…I gave them everything…Only one word: HURTFUL…I’ll say it. My mother told me ‘You should GIVE them to their dad’…I’m sharing this because I can…Have a good day folks!!!” Then she posted, “In addition to what I said on my story…” and went off a bit about some things Kevin’s wife Victoria said. But back to the nude photos. Britney wrote, “I daringly would like for the Federline’s to watch the BIG BOOTY VIDEO!!! Other artists have made much worse when their children were extremely young!!!!” And of course, Britney’s new husband Sam Asghari defended his woman, posting, “To clarify my wife has never posted a nude selfie except of her butt wich is quite modest these days. All other posts were implied nudity with can be seen in any ad for lotion or soap.” He went on to say that Britney and Kevin’s boys “are very smart and will be 18 soon to make their own decisions and may eventually realize the ‘tough’ part was having a father who hasn’t worked much in over 15 years as a role model…Kevin’s gravy train will end soon which probably explains the timing of these hurtful statements. I will not comment on this matter except to say I have a job.” And in his final comment on the matter, Sam posted, “I wish him the best and hope he has a more positive outlook in the future…But for now: Keep my wife’s name…..out your mouth.”

Meantime, her relationship with the private equity investor she’s been dating since late May/early June has fizzled out. Some say it was the distance — Pete’s in Australia filming while Kim is back home with her four kids. Some say it was the age difference — Kim is 41 and Pete is 28. Whatever the reason, it’s over. And nobody is celebrating the news harder than Kanye West. His one and only Instagram post is a mockup of the front page of today’s “New York Times” with the headline, “SKETE DAVIDSON DEAD AT 28.” And if you enlarge it to look at the teeny tiny print at the bottom, it says,” Kid Cudi meant to play funeral but fearful of bottle throwers.” Kim’s last IG post was from 3 days ago, promoting Kanye’s Yeezy sunglasses.
