Weekend box office news… Mariah Carey set her wedding dress on fire… Tom Brady’s game jersey went missing… Justin Bieber returned to Instagram… and Lady Gaga announces Joanne World Tour after epic Super Bowl performance
“Split” is number one at the box office for a third weekend, taking in another $14.6 million. The new horror movie “Rings” came in second with $13 million. Coming in third was “A Dog’s Purpose” with $10.8 million. “Hidden Figures” is still hanging in there, coming in fourth with $10.1 million. And “La La Land” rounded out the top five with almost $7.5 million.
Mariah Carey has zero regard for money when it comes to making a point. In her new music video for “I Don’t” she’s letting her former fiancé James Packer know just how done she is by setting her wedding dress on fire. This wasn’t just any wedding dress. It was a $250K custom Valentino gown. And she burned it at the Calabasas, California, home that she and James shared before they broke up in October.

It was historic for many reasons. It was the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history…it was the first time a Super Bowl game ever went into overtime…and with 5 wins, Tom Brady has more Super Bowl rings than any other quarterback in the history of the game. But after the game, Tom was doing interviews and suddenly realized his game jersey was missing. He was freaking out, calling in security to help him look for it. He kept saying, “It was right here! I know exactly where I put it!” He finally gave up, saying it would probably turn up on eBay at some point. But good news! Tom’s jersey has already turned up! Reportedly, the equipment manager grabbed it and put it in a safe place. Mm-hmmmm…….
Justin Bieber was so mad at internet trolls for being mean to his girlfriend-for-a-hot-minute Sofia Richie that he left Instagram! He deactivated his account in August and has been quiet ever since……until Friday! Justin has returned to Instagram! He hit that re-activate button and all of his previous posts popped back up, as well as his 77 million-plus followers. Now, he only did it to promote his T-Mobile Super Bowl ad, so it was probably in his contract that he had to do that…But at least he’s dipped his toe in the water!

Lady Gaga didn’t need any surprise guest performances. She handled the Super Bowl Halftime Show all by herself just fine, plummeting from the ceiling and flipping around on a wire and strapping on a keytar and catching a pass as she leapt from the stage. It seems like everybody but really grumpy people loved it. Her performance was tweeted about over five million times in less than an hour. And right after her performance, Gaga announced that she will be launching a tour supporting her album “Joanne,” which was her fourth number one album on the Billboard 200. Her 2014 ARTPOP tour brought in $83 million from 74 shows. Tickets for the “Joanne” tour go on sale next Monday. She’ll kick things off in Vancouver on August 1, making stops across North America and Europe before she wraps things up December 14 in Salt Lake City.
