According to The Hollywood Reporter, the budget for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was around $100M before marketing costs. That would be about $10M more than it cost to produce the original, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” And this weekend, “Across the Spider-Verse” opened with $120.5M at the box office — three times more than the opening of the original in 2018! Not only that, it was the second biggest opening of 2023, behind “The SuperMario Bros. Movie” with $146M. AND, it was the third-biggest opening ever for an animated film. So we’ve had “Into the Spider-Verse” and now we’ve got “Across the Spider-Verse.” Next year we get “Beyond the Spider-Verse.” Coming in second this weekend was “The Little Mermaid” which earned another $40.6M in its second weekend. Coming in third was “The Boogeyman,” based on a Stephen King story. It debuted with $12.3M.

Angelina Jolie is done with men, but not with adopting. According to “New Idea Magazine,” Angelina has been talking about adopting another child for over a year now. She recently flew to Jamaica to attend a literary festival, but an inside source claims her ulterior motive was to look into adopting a child from there. Angelina has six children — 3 adopted and 3 biological. In 2002, she adopted Maddox from Cambodia. She was married to Billy Bob Thornton at the time, but Brad Pitt ended up adopting him when he was 4. Maddox is now 21! In 2005, Brad flew with Angelina to Ethiopia where she adopted Zahara. Brad adopted her the following year. Zahara is now 18. In 2007, Angelina adopted Pax from Vietnam, and Brad adopted him the following year. Pax is now 19. Angelina and Brad had 3 biological children. Shiloh is 17 and twins, Knox and Vivienne, are 14. With three kids off to college and three more close to being out the door, Angelina reportedly has been suffering from empty-nest syndrome. The source said she ran the idea of adopting another child by her children, and they were all just as excited as she is.
Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied were all lovey-dovey at Beyonce’s tour stop in Paris. Four days later, “Voici” magazine reported that 45-year-old Benjamin had an affair with 25-year-old climate activist Camille Étienne, who happens to be good friends with Greta Thunberg. But “People” magazine says the affair was brief and over. Reportedly, Natalie and Benjamin separated last year but got back together. Then he had the affair, which Natalie found out about in March, and they’ve been working to save their marriage. Since the affair made the press, Benjamin is laying low. Natalie, however, has no problem showing her face. She went solo to a soccer match in France Saturday night. You may remember Natalie met Benjamin back in 2009, when he was hired to choreograph her movie “Black Swan.” It was very scandalous as Benjamin pretty much immediately left his long-time, live-in girlfriend to be with Natalie.

While Taylor Swift was swallowing a bug at her concert in Chicago over the weekend, Matty Healy was swallowing a security guard’s tongue at The 1975’s concert in Denmark. During their song “Robbers,” Matty locked eyes with a cute security guard standing right by the stage. Matty knelt down, pulled the guy in and kissed him on the mouth. The security guard loved it. And when Matty pulled him back in, the guard kissed Matty on the neck. All in good fun!

Last month, Shakira met Tom Cruise at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami. Tom reportedly was so smitten, he sent her flowers the next day, but Shakira wasn’t interested. Maybe that’s because the night before, she crossed paths with Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton at Cipriani, where he was having dinner with his rumored girlfriend Juliana Nalu. But the next day, Juliana was nowhere in sight as Lewis was photographed helping Shakira climb onto a yacht. And this weekend, Shakira was in the stands cheering on Lewis as he competed in the F1 Grand Prix in Spain. He ended up placing second behind Max Verstappen, but who cares when Shakira is waiting for you at the end! In fact, Shakira and Lewis went to dinner that night with singer/songwriter Mustafa, who posted photos on his social media.
