In movie news — Earlier this month, J Balvin was promoting his most recent album Rayo when he said, “I’ve started acting — like real acting, not just cameos — and I just wrapped filming for a movie I’m in that comes out next year. I love that side of myself.” Now Deadline is reporting that J Balvin is making his big-screen debut in Little Lorraine, which is “based on true events from the late 1980s, depicting a remote mining and fishing town’s transformation into a hub for a major cocaine smuggling operation.” J Balvin plays an Interpol agent investigating a Colombian drug importation ring suspected of entering America through Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. And in other movie news, Borderlands was released on Aug. 9 and after two weeks, it’s made only $18.6M at the GLOBAL box office, against a $120M+ budget. Trying to minimize the damage, Borderlands will be released on digital platforms starting next Friday. Borderlands follows the outlaw Lilith, who returns to the place she grew up to form an alliance with a team of misfits in order to find the missing daughter of the most powerful man in the universe. Despite A-list stars including Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, it’s only got 10% positive reviews on RottenTomatoes.com.

Cristiano Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel on Wednesday and within 90 minutes, it had become the fastest ever to hit 1M subscribers. As of this morning, he hit 30M, setting another record for the quickest YouTube channel to hit that number. He’s got 19 videos posted so far. One with Cristiano and his wife Georgina talk about themselves and their relationship is almost at 10M views. Cristiana has more social media followers than anyone on Earth, with nearly 1B followers across Facebook, Instagram, and X.

How long can YOU sleep? Olivia Rodrigo says that when she was on her GUTS world tour, she would sleep up to 13 hours a day to recover from the exhaustion of performing. In addition to sleeping, Olivia fills her downtime by reading or watching her favorite TV shows, like Sex and the City.

She’s been calling him her husband for months, but Adele seemingly confirmed it at a concert in Munich earlier this month that she is, in fact, engaged to sports agent Rich Paul. In fact, a source told OK Magazine that wedding plans are underway. The source said, “It will be a decent-size affair, most likely in California, followed by a second celebration in England. Adele’s very excited and so is Rich. They’re crazy in love.” Rich has three children but this will be his first marriage. Adele was previously married to Simon Konecki, who owns his own brand of bottled water in the UK and also serves as CEO of a non-profit that provides clean drinking water to developing countries. They share 11-year-old son Angelo.

Megan Thee Stallion will serve as host of the MTV VMAs, airing live on Wednesday, Sept. 11, marking her first time ever hosting an awards show. Megan is not only hosting, she’s also nominated for 5 awards, including Best Hip Hop and Best Collaboration with GloRilla, who will be performing at the ceremony. Other performers announced so far include Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, Benson Boone, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Blackpink’s Lisa, and Rauw Alejandro, with more to come. Taylor Swift leads with 10 nominations, followed by Post Malone with nine. And Katy Perry will receive this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
