The 2017 Google Play lists… Celebrities filling in for Kimmel… “House of Cards” will resume… Blake Lively’s injury on set… and Meghan Markle will receive hostage training

Google Play is an online store with millions of digital songs, movies, TV shows, apps, games, books, and on and on and on… And because it’s December — barely — Google Play is giving us their list of the most popular everything from the past 11 months. The top five streamed songs of 2017 — which I remind you, still isn’t over — are “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar, “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran, “DNA” by Kendrick Lamar, “Mask Off” by Future, and “Body Like A Back Road” by Sam Hunt. The top five movies of 2017 have been “Moana,” “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Wonder Woman,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and “Doctor Strange.” And the most popular new apps of 2017 have been Photo Editor – Beauty Camera & Photo Filters; What The Forecast?!!; Boomerang; TopBuzz Video: Viral Videos, Funny GIFs & TV shows; and Yarn – Chat Fiction.

Jimmy Kimmel’s baby son Billy underwent a second successful heart surgery yesterday. Billy was born with congenital heart disease that required him to undergo emergency open-heart surgery when he was only 3 days old, and doctors said he would have to have two more surgeries. This second one was supposed to happen when Billy turned 6 months old in October, but he caught a baby cold and they postponed it until now. Jimmy is taking this week off to be with his family, so celebrities are filling in for him as host. Last night was Chris Pratt and tonight is Tracee Ellis Ross. Neil Patrick Harris and Melissa McCarthy will fill in the rest of the week.

“House of Cards” will resume production early next year without Kevin Spacey. The sixth and final season will now focus on Robin Wright’s character. It will consist of 8 episodes and we don’t have a release date. Netflix said the decision to end the series was made before we all found out Kevin was a pervert. They took a strong stance by stopping production and refusing to continue with the series if Kevin remained.

Blake Lively has been filming a spy movie called “The Rhythm Section.” Blake plays a woman who tries to uncover the truth about a plane crash that killed her family and somehow she becomes an assassin. I’m sure it will all make sense when we see it! Apparently, Blake was trying to do her own stunt because she injured her hand while filming an action sequence and production had to be shut down. We don’t know how serious it is but resuming will resume as quickly as possible.

Meghan Markle has to go through a crash course in hostage training, taught to her by members of the British Special Air Service. If Meghan is ever kidnapped and her captors force her to record a video, she’ll be taught how to send a distress signal using micro-expressions, key words and other signals to let her family know whether she’s being physically harmed. She’ll also get some basic psychology training on dealing with her captors. And she’ll be taught how to get out of restraints, like duct tape and zip ties. She probably won’t be taught how to use any weapons, because this is real life and not a Blake Lively spy movie…
