The Screen Actors Guild Awards last night… “Rent” on Fox accident… “Princess Diaries” third movie… Andy Cohen’s baby shower… and Michael Jackson family is ‘furious’ at documentary
At the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night, “Black Panther” took the award for best acting ensemble. That’s a big deal because it beat out two leading Oscar-nominated movies, “Roma” and “The Favourite,” and may make the voters for the Oscars take a second look at it for best picture. “Black Panther” also won for best stunt performer ensemble, but none of the actors were nominated for single acting awards. Those went to Glenn Close for “The Wife” and Rami Malek for “Bohemian Rhapsody.” In supporting roles, Emily Blunt won for in “A Quiet Place” and Mahershala Ali for “Green Book.” Interesting to note, “A Star Is Born,” “The Favourite” and “BlacKkKlansman” were all shut out. In the world of TV, “This Is Us” won best ensemble in a drama series, and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won for comedy series.

The actor who played Roger in last night’s live “Rent” on Fox broke his foot in the final act of dress rehearsal the night before. But this ain’t Broadway! No understudy was called in. Instead, they decided to go with the footage they’d filmed during dress rehearsals. Then they wheeled Brennin Hunt out at the end and he propped up his cast to do a couple live shots at the end. And yes, it was live when the original Broadway cast — including Idina Menzel and Take Diggs — joined the TV cast at the very end to perform “Seasons of Love.”

For “Princess Diaries” fans, this is huge. It’s been more than 10 years since “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” was released. Has it been too long for another movie? Nope! Anne Hathaway says there is a script for a third movie, and that both she and Julie Andrews want to do it! The original producer is in, too. But they will have to find the perfect director for the project. Garry Marshall passed away in 2016. Anne told Andy Cohen, “We don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it. It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it.”

Andy Cohen’s baby shower at The Palms in Beverly Hills was put together by Kyle Richards, Nene Leakes, Teresa Giudice, Ramona Singer, and Vicki Gunvalson. Almost 50 Housewives were there and they all got together for a massive photo at the end. Some of the bigger names among the Housewives were noticeably absent, but some of them had good excuses. Melissa Gorga was at her daughter’s cheer competition. Porsha Williams is heavily pregnant. Kandi Burruss is locked inside the house on “Celebrity Big Brother.” Luann De Lesseps is on tour with her cabaret act. Lisa Vanderpump said she was too busy in Vegas opening her new restaurant, but come on….It’s a quick flight to and from LA. Word is, she won’t be back next season on the Beverly Hills franchise. Bethenny Frenkel wasn’t there, but I can’t find her excuse. And Kelly Dodd posed in a picture with Lil Wayne and said she was sad to miss, but Aspen.
I am still speechless from today. EPIC. Much love to the OG’s who threw me the party of a lifetime @KyleRichards @NeNeLeakes @Teresa_Giudice @ramonasinger & @vgunvalson pic.twitter.com/7eIq5nfMoi

Michael Jackson’s family released a statement saying they are furious that two men who accused Michael of sexually abusing them when they were boys have made a documentary. They have denounced “Leaving Neverland,” which features Wade Robson and James Safechuck, and debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. It’s set to air on HBO this spring. The statement said, “Michael always turned the other cheek, and we have always turned the other cheek when people have gone after members of our family — that is the Jackson way. But we can’t just stand by while this public lynching goes on…. Michael is not here to defend himself, otherwise these allegations would not have been made.” When Michael was on trial, Wade testified that he’d sleep in Michael’s room several times, but the Michael never touched him. James basically said the same thing to investigators. Michael died in 2009 and in 2013, both men filed lawsuits, saying they were finally ready to tell the truth. Those lawsuits were thrown out on technical grounds but are under appeal.
