Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth Split

Weekend box office weekend… Jordyn Woods got a new tattoo… BTS will take a period of rest… Lady Gaga’s funding… and Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth have split

Lots of crushed egos in Hollywood this morning. But let’s start with the success stories. “Hobbs & Shaw” is still number one in its second week, earning another $25.4M and crossing the $100M mark in the US. Worldwide, it’s earned over $332M. Coming in second was the new movie “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” with $20.8M. It’s based on the best-selling children’s book series so lots of families went to see it, which probably affected the box office for “Dora and the Lost City of Gold.” That opened in fourth with $17M. Milo Ventimiglia’s “The Art of Racing in the Rain” didn’t do so hot on its opening weekend. It opened in sixth with $8.1M. And “The Kitchen” was a career-worst for both Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish, opening with just $5.5M for seventh place.

Oh, how much can change in just one year. Jordyn Woods was right there by her best friend’s side when she turned 21. But this year, Kylie Jenner turned 22 on a mega-yacht in Italy while Jordyn showed up for a beauty event in LA. Was Jordyn throwing a little shade when she posted a sexy booty shot and captioned it, “plans got canceled yesterday so I couldn’t let this go to waste.. Are gonna start creating more projects and loooks. Are you ready!?” At the event, Jordyn was also showing off a new tattoo on the inside of her forearm that said, “What’s meant for me will never miss me.”

Yesterday, BTS announced they will be taking an “official and extended period of rest and relaxation.” Band members: RM, Jungkook, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin and V. This will be their first break since the group started in 2013. It is not clear how long the break will last but they are scheduled to perform in Saudi Arabia in October. It’s possible their break is necessary because South Korean males still have to complete two years of military service between the ages of 18 and 28. All of the BTS band members fit this age bracket. Exemptions from military serve are granted, so maybe they will just be chillin’.

Lady Gaga is doing something to help the communities left devastated by recent mass shootings. She’s joining with DonorsChoose.org to fund classroom projects in Dayton, Ohio; El Paso, Texas; and Gilroy, California. In making her announcement, Gaga said, “In this moment, I want to channel my confusion, frustration, and fury into hope. Hope that we are there for each other and for ourselves. 14 classrooms in Dayton, 125 classrooms in El Paso, and 23 classrooms in Gilroy will now have access to the support they need to inspire their students to work together and bring their dreams to life.” If you would like to donate to the project, visit DonorsChoose.org/bekind21.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have announced their separation after 8 months of marriage. Miley is cutting loose in Italy, making out with Kaitlyn Carter, who recently broke up with Brody Jenner after one year of marriage. Brody posted a picture of himself on a hill overlooking the ocean in Malibu and captioned it, “Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.” His co-star from “The Hills” reboot, Brandon Lee, responded, “Let’s round this scandal out and post a pic of us making out (winking kissy face emoji)” Brody answered back, “(rolling on floor laughing emoji) watch out! Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon.” Miley couldn’t let that go, telling Brody, “go take a nap in your truck and cool off #HotGirlSummer” Meantime, Liam is hanging out with his brother in Australia. When a reporter for the Daily Mail Australia asked about him about the split, Liam said, “You don’t understand what it’s like…I don’t want to talk about it, mate.”
