A “Pitch Perfect” series… Willie Garson passed away… Celebrities are on fire… Savage X Fenty vol. 3… and Netflix’s Britney Spears documentary
Listen to “Showbiz – Sep 22, 2021” on Spreaker.

So the same day my husband tells me he’s pulling the plug on Peacock, they announce they’re doing a “Pitch Perfect” TV series starring Adam Devine. Adam is back as Bumper, the arrogant leader of The Treblemakers. The TV series will take place several years after “Pitch Perfect.” Bumper moves to Berlin to revive his music career after one of his songs becomes a huge hit in Germany. Elizabeth Banks will serve as executive producer. She starred in and produced all three “Pitch Perfect” movies and directed the second one.

“Sex and the City” star Willie Garson passed away yesterday after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57. Willie played Carrie Bradshaw’s best friend, Stanford Blatch, in the TV show and in the movies. While Stanford was gay, Willie was straight. In fact, Willie did an interview with “Out Magazine” 20 years ago and said that he and Sarah Jessica Parker were set up on a blind date more than a decade before “Sex and the City” came along. He said, “We were set up once, had a very long flirtation, and then just settled into being best friends…,It’s funny, she’s said in interviews that every single one of her friends is gay ‘except for Willie Garson.’” Willie’s on-screen husband was played by Mario Cantone, who posted, “I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with Sadness. Taken away from all of us way soon. You were a gift from the gods sweet Willie. Rest …I love you.” Willie had already filmed his scenes for the upcoming reboot, “And Just Like That…” We don’t have a release date for that yet.
Willie Garson, who played the beloved Stanford Blatch on ‘Sex and the City,’ Mozzie in ‘White Collar’ and many other iconic roles, has died at 57.
In his final message on Twitter, the actor shared a positive message of love and kindness.https://t.co/IdUrVkUB5x pic.twitter.com/aHsQtDrx7h— The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) September 22, 2021

Celebrities on fire!! First, a fire broke out at Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s home in Calabasas Monday. Sources say it was a structural fire that started in the basement. Will and Jada were home at the time, but they got out and are completely fine. A firefighter had to be treated on the scene. And then on Tuesday, Nicole Richie caught fire! She was celebrating her 40th birthday and when she bent over to blow out the candles on her cake, her hair caught on fire. She shared the video on her Instagram, if you want to check it out. She captioned it, “Well…so far 40 is 🔥” Her husband Joel Madden commented, “that’s hot.”

Yesterday, Netflix announced a new documentary about Britney Spears’ conservatorship called “Britney vs. Spears.” They released a short teaser yesterday featuring a 2009 voicemail Britney left for her attorney. The full trailer is expected to drop today, with the documentary coming out on Tuesday — one day before Britney’s next court date. This is the first court date since her father filed to end the conservatorship, so maybe she will finally be free after all these years. Britney hasn’t commented on “Britney vs. Spears,” but we know she wasn’t happy with the NY Times documentary, “Framing Britney Spears.” Britney posted on Instagram that while she didn’t watch it, from what she did see, it was embarrassing. She wrote, “I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!!”
