Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve lineup… New Malcolm in the Middle episodes… Michael Jackson’s music leaked a little on fan sites… James Kennedy update… and NFL Christmas Halftime performance

For the 20th time, Ryan Seacrest is back to host Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest, which he says will last over 5 hours. That’s a lot of time to fill, so they keep piling on to the lineup. This year, Ryan gets some help with hosting duties from Rita Ora, and for the first time ever, there will be New Year’s countdown from Las Vegas, with Blake Shelton performing somewhere on the strip. The West Coast lineup also includes HARDY, Renée Rapp, Kesha, Dasha, Natasha Bedingfield, T-Pain and (LAY-VAY) Laufay. Alanis Morissette is also among the headline acts, as she continues the celebration of the 30th anniversary of her Jagged Little Pill album. The broadcast will also feature DJ Cassidy’s Pass the Mic Live! show, featuring Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh and Ernest. New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will also countdown to the New Year in Puerto Rico, where Dayanara Torres will co-host once again, and we’ll have a performance by Luis Fonsi. And in NYC, expect performances from Lenny Kravitz, Megan Moroney, Teddy Swims, Tinashe, Thomas Rhett, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Cody Johnson and TLC. And then shortly before the big ball drop in Times Square, Carrie Underwood will sing a medley of some of her greatest hits. It’s not only Ryan’s 20th anniversary hosting New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, it’s also the 20th anniversary of Carrie winning American Idol.

Malcolm in the Middle premiered on Fox in January of 2000 and ran for 7 seasons. Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston have been talking about doing a revival for a while, and Variety is reporting that it’s finally happening. It will only be four episodes, but fans are excited for whatever they can get. According to the plot synopsis, “Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.” Jane Kaczmarek will be back as mama Lois, but there’s no word yet on the rest of the original cast. There’s also no word on when we can expect it, but we do know it will air on Disney+

A former California Highway Patrol officer says his friend called him and said he’s just bought an abandoned storage unit in Van Nuys. I’m not really clear about whether the friend asked Gregg to help him go through the stuff or if he just said, “Take it!” But what happened was….the unit once belonged to music producer and singer Bryan Loren — whose current whereabouts are apparently unknown. Inside that unit, Gregg found a bunch of unreleased Michael Jackson tapes, featuring 12 tracks recorded between 1989 and 1991, all before Michael’s Dangerous album. Gregg told The Hollywood Reporter that some of the tracks been leaked a little on fan sites, but “a couple aren’t even out there in the world.” He said you can hear Michael and another man — he assumes is Bryan Loren — talking through their creative process. He said, “I’m listening to this stuff, and I would get goosebumps because nobody’s ever heard this stuff before. To hear Michael Jackson actually talk and kind of joke back and forth, it was really, really cool.” Among the titles, Truth on Youth is a rap duet between Michael and LL Cool J. Another is called Seven Digits. On the tapes, Michael explains that’s a reference to the ID number dead bodies are given at the morgue. But despite the potential 7-figure value of these recordings, the Jackson Estate declined to purchase them. They said the estate owns the copyright on the recordings and compositions anyway, which prevents them from being released to the public.

Days after he was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence, Page Six’s cameras caught former Vanderpump Rules brat James Kennedy helping his girlfriend Ally Lewber move her things out of their San Fernando Valley home. Last week after demonstrating some of his bratty behavior at Kathy Hilton’s DirectTV-sponsored Christmas party — someone called 911 to report they saw a man grab a woman during an argument outside a home in Burbank. Police arrested James and charged him with misdemeanor domestic violence. The woman was unidentified at the time, but Page Six has learned it was, in fact, Ally. A source said, “Ally has been telling friends she’s doing OK. She’s definitely safe and not in danger with James.” The source says they’re actually still together, but Ally is staying at an Airbnb with family until this all blows over.

Diva news — Beyoncé is getting extra time to do her thing during the NFL Christmas Day game halftime show, which will stream on Netflix. While the Super Bowl Halftime Show is about 25 minutes, Beyoncé is getting a full 2o on Christmas Day. Oh, and the Texans are playing the Ravens. In other diva news, Katy Perry will be the first celerity guest judge when RuPaul’s Drag Race returns Jan. 3 on MTV. Along with regular judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, Ross Mathews and Ts Madison, other celebrity guests judges on the roster this season include Doechii, Quinta Brunson, Adam Lambert, Sam Smith, Jerrod Carmichael, June Diane Raphael and Tracee Ellis Ross. And finally, despite all the rumors that have been circulating online, Ariana Grande’s record label has officially confirmed she will NOT be touring in 2025. Despite the disappointment, fans are just happy for the clarification.
