Weekend box office news… Ryan Lochte proposed… Is Liam Payne and Cheryl expecting?… Selena Gomez spotted… and Paisley Park opens doors to the public
“The Girl on the Train” debuted in first place at the box office this weekend, taking in $24.7 million. “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” dropped to second in its second week with $15 million. Coming in third, “Deepwater Horizon” with $11.8 million, followed by “Magnificent Seven” with $9.2 million and “Storks” with $8.5 million.
Ryan Lochte took a break from “Dancing With the Stars” rehearsals to pop the question to his girlfriend, Kayla Rae Reid. They both posted pictures of big day on their Instagrams. He captioned his, “Memories forever!!! #thelochtes #LA” She captioned hers, “Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU. ❤️.” Ryan and Kayla started dating in January and Ryan admits that his family thinks they may be rushing things a bit. But as Ryan said, “Can you put a time on love? Can you? When I realized this was ‘the one’ was when she stuck behind me through this.” And by “this,” Ryan means the Rio lying scandal.
Although nothing has been confirmed, it’s looking like a second One Direction baby is on the way. Liam Payne and Cheryl — she’s trying the one-name thing right now — went out to dinner at Nobu in London last night (Translation: They WANTED to be seen) and she was wearing a dress that hugged a noticeable bump in the belly region. Liam and Cheryl first met back in 2008 on the set of “The X Factor” when he was only 14 and she was married to her first husband, Ashley Cole. They started dating late last year, right after Cheryl’s second marriage fell apart. She’s still in the process of trying to divorce Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Verisini and perhaps a baby will speed things up a bit.
Selena Gomez was spotted having a late afternoon lunch with her family in Alcoa, Tennessee, Saturday afternoon — the first time she’s been seen in public a little over a month after she announced she was taking a break from the spotlight. A fan tweeted a selfie with her, captioning it, “Check that it was @selenagomez.” He said he told her he hoped she was doing well and having a good break and that he was proud of her for taking time for herself. He said she was very appreciative and they actually talked for a good while. And Selena looked really good in that selfie so this break is doing her some good.
Last week, Paisley Park opened its doors to the public for the first time since Prince passed away in April. According to CNN, after guests take a short shuttle ride through the property’s front gates, they were escorted through a lobby and into an atrium filled with Prince memorabilia and painted murals. At the center of the room was a purple urn in the shape of a crypt that contains Prince’s ashes. After paying their respects, guests saw Prince’s office, which had been untouched since his death. They also got to tour recording and editing studios as well as a massive sound stage where Prince shot music videos and held private concerts and parties. In December, the city council will consider a request to rezone Paisley Park so it can operate as a museum and offer daily tours.
