Weekend box office news… Corey Feldman’s performance on the Today show… Kanye West joined Instagram… Is Ryan Seacrest dating Adriana Lima?… and ‘People v. OJ Simpson’ dominates the Emmys
This weekend’s box office surprised the experts, who predicted that “Blair Witch” would earn about $22 million in its first weekend to take the top spot and that “Bridget Jones’ Baby” would do about $14 million or so. The experts were way off. The number one movie DID take in $22 million, but that movie was “Sully.” “Blair Witch” came in a distant second with $9.65 million. And “Bridget Jones” disappointed with $8.2 million and a third place finish. Coming in fourth was the new “Snowden” with $8 million. And “Don’t Breathe” rounded out the top five with another $5.6 million.
Corey Feldman was skewered on social media after he performed on the Today show Friday. But Pink has a lot of sympathy for the poor guy and tweeted, “Well I love ya @Corey_Feldman and I know how much it takes to get up there and do your thing. Keep your head up and know that you’re loved.” Corey and the women he calls “Corey’s Angels” performed “Go 4 It” from Corey’s fifth album, “Angelic 2 the Core.” Corey explained that his mission with the group is to “help girls who were kind of lost and needed to find their way to get their opportunities, their dreams and make them realities. And that’s what we do, we try to help them make their realities their dreams.” Corey says he has one top angel — his “Maingel” — and, reminiscent of Charlie Sheen, he lets his angels live at his house. The angels do have to follow a bunch of rules, including a vegetarian diet and no male guests, unless Corey invites them. A couple of other rules — “Angels must be open to change and willing to learn” and “Nudity is beauty.”

So we just heard that Kanye West gave up his cell phone so his art could breathe or some nonsense like that….But now he’s gone and joined Instagram, which means he HAS to have a cellphone. He’s already accumulated over 800K followers who have all gotten to see exactly one picture — a futuristic-looking car driving beside a slanted, glass building. No explanation necessary. Six months ago Kanye tweeted, “I was thinking about getting an Instagram but only on one condition.” He followed that up with, “no one can ask me or try to tell me what to Instagram… It’s my art.” And now we’re finally reaping the benefits.
E! News has bought into this idea that Ryan Seacrest is dating Adriana Lima and they want us to buy in, too! They’ve obtained exclusive pictures of “Hollywood’s hottest new couple” leaving a dinner date fin NYC. Their outfits even matched. Apparently, navy is the new black.
It was O.J.’s night at the Emmys! If you acted in “The People v. O.J. Simpson” you had a pretty good shot of winning. Sara Paulson won for her portrayal of Marcia Clark; Courtney B. Vance won for pretending to be Johnnie Cochran; Sterling K. Brown also won for his role as Christopher Darden; and John Travolta was an award-winning Robert Shapiro. But with 38 Emmys, “Game of Thrones” broke a 12-year record for the most wins in one night. The previous record belonged to “Frasier” with 37.
