Relationship Roundup

Dune won the weekend… Paris Hilton’s wedding registry… Ed Sheeran amid COVID-19 diagnosis… Alec Baldwin was practicing drawing his gun… and Relationship roundup

Listen to “Showbiz – Oct 25, 2021” on Spreaker.

You could’ve watched it in the theater or at home on HBO Max, but enough people chose to watch “Dune” in theaters, making it the number one movie its opening weekend with $40.1M. “Halloween Kills” dropped to second in its second week of release with $14.5M. “No Time to Die” was third with $11.8M, followed by “Venom: Let There be Carnage” with $9.1M, and the new “Ron’s Gone Wrong” opened in fifth with $7.3M.

Paris Hilton has been engaged four times, but this is the closest she’s ever come to actually making it down the aisle. Paris is set to marry venture capitalist Carter Reum on Nov. 11 at her grandfather’s estate in Bel Air. She and Carter had their joint bachelor/bachelorette party in Vegas earlier this month, and her friends threw her an Alice in Wonderland-themed bridal shower a few days ago, and most of the Beverly Hills Housewives were there because Paris’ mom Kathy joined as a friend of the show this season and is simply delightful. If you want to celebrate Paris and Carter’s love by buying them a gift, her Gearys registry is public. Paris has received almost all of her china pattern — it’s the Hermes Mosaique Au 24 Platinum pattern. But she still needs two $495 tart platters a couple $270 square plates and her $305 creamer and nobody’s gotten her any of her crystal glassware. Somebody did, however, drop $1000 for a crystal caviar server.

Ed Sheeran announced yesterday that he tested positive for COVID-19. He said he’s self-isolating, and “unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews [and] performances [as] I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I’ve let down.” The day before he tested positive, it was announced that Ed would be the musical guest on the Nov. 6 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” which will be hosted by Kieran Culkin. That’s still a couple weeks away, so Ed COULD recover in time. But sources are saying “SNL” is scrambling to find a replacement for Ed “who appeals to the same demo.” Ed is this week’s guest mentor on “The Voice,” but his segments were already taped. His new album “Equals” comes out on Friday.

Search warrants from the local sheriff’s department in Santa Fe reveal that Alec Baldwin was practicing a cross draw in a church pew last Thursday when he accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza. A source said Alec was “hysterical and absolutely inconsolable for hours.” Alec took Halyna’s husband and 9-year-old son to breakfast Saturday morning, and a GoFundMe has been set up for them, which has raised over $200K so far. While they’re still piecing everything together, local authorities say assistant director Dave Halls is the one who handed Alec the gun, telling him, “Cold gun.” That means there are no cartridges, blanks, bullets, NOTHING inside the firearm. But the gun DID have live rounds in it. Sources say that gun had been used by crew members away from the set for target practice. Police found live bullets and blanks stored in the same area, which could explain the mixup. Investigators will talk with Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who worked as the movie’s “armorer.” That’s the person responsible for managing all the firearms used on a film set. According to sources, Hannah was less than professional on the “Rust” set and on a previous Nicolas Cage movie set. And sources say there were three other misfires on the “Rust” set in the days before the fatal shooting.

Celebrity relationship roundup! Did John Mulaney and Olivia Munn break up? That rumor was trending over the weekend after Instagram gossip account Deuxmoi first posted it. It’s not like anybody is really rooting for them. The timeline on when they got together is a little fuzzy, and some believe they hooked up while he was still married. Either way, they’re expecting a baby together and during a recent standup routine, John joked that everyone hates his baby with Olivia. But in happier news, “Selling Sunset” star Heather Rae Young and “Flip or Flop” star Tarek El Moussa were married at a hotel near Santa Barbara on Saturday. After originally saying they wouldn’t televise their wedding, it was taped for a one-hour special called “Tarek and Heather: The Big I Do” which will air on Discovery+ in December. And Jesse McCartney married Katie Peterson at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel after 7 years of dating. Their dog Bailey served as the flower girl.
