“Chickadee” given terminal prognosis… Lisa Marie Presley died of complications… Big Brother’s 25th Anniversary Celebration… Joe Manganiello’s ‘cold’ message… and SAG-AFTRA is going on strike

Last August, Mama June’s oldest daughter Chickadee — whose real name is Anna Cardwell — went to the hospital with back pain. Doctors removed a cyst from her back, which turned out to be cancer. Chickadee was diagnosed with adrenal carcinoma – a rare and aggressive form of cancer that had spread to her liver, spleen and lungs. Mama June recently gave Entertainment Tonight an update on her 28-year-old daughter’s health. She said Chickadee recently finished her fourth round of chemotherapy, and now has to decide what her next step will be. Will she take part in clinical trials or immune therapy or decided to stop treatment altogether. June explained, “She’s stage 4. She’s not going go into remission. We’ve all accepted that, so I just tell people one day at a time because you never know.” She added, “It’s crazy to think that she will not be here probably in five years, but I’m hoping that she can pull through and fight 10, 20 years.”

On Jan. 12 — two days after watching Austin Butler accept the Golden Globe for his portrayal of her father, ElvisLisa Marie Presley collapsed at her home in Calabasas in full cardiac arrest. She was rushed to the hospital where she sadly passed away at the age of 54. And all these months later, the LA County Coroner has finally revealed that Lisa Marie’s death was caused by complications of bariatric surgery — or stomach stapling — that she had many years ago. The surgery caused adhesions that basically strangulated her small bowel and led to bowel obstruction. The toxicology results showed traces of an antipsychotic drug, therapeutic levels of Oxycodone, and Buprenorphine — which is used to treat opioid dependence — in Lisa Marie’s blood. The coroner’s report said Lisa Marie had a cosmetic procedure a few months before her death and that she was prescribed opioids, which was problematic because Lisa Marie had a history of alcohol and drugs use. The report says Lisa Marie would end up overmedicating because she’d take her medicine, forget she’d taken it, and then take it again.

Where were you on July 5, 2000? Odds are, you were gathered around your TV set to see the highly anticipated American version of “Big Brother,” which actually got its start in the Netherlands. My parents were huge fans until it turned into nothing but SEX SEX SEX, but enough people kept tuning in to keep the show coming back. And coming up this Wednesday, July 26, you can enjoy a 25th anniversary special of “Big Brother” featuring lots of previous winners and fan-favorite houseguests. The special will include a bunch of archived vault footage from the last 24 seasons, with behind-the-scenes scoop and other house secrets. A press release says you may be able to spot some clues about a big twist in the upcoming Season 25, which debuts on Wednesday, Aug. 2, on CBS and also stream on Paramount+.

How does wishing your wife a happy birthday on Instagram lead to gossip that your marriage is in trouble? Joe Manganiello posted a couple pictures on his Instagram — one with his beautiful wife Sofia Vergara and the next of a glass sculpture (maybe her birthday present?) — and captioned them, “¡¡¡Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!” Well, THAT. IS. NOT. GOOD. ENOUGH. A lot of people in the comments found his birthday post basic and cold, especially compared to years past. One said Joe seemed more enthusiastic posting about his chihuahua Bubbles’ 10th birthday! On top of that, Sofia hasn’t liked or thanked Joe in his post. And on top of THAT, Sofia is vacationing in Italy with her girlfriends — but not Joe — who hasn’t liked any of her pictures, either.

First the writers, and now the actors. As of midnight last night, all members of SAG-AFTRA were ordered to go on strike. This is their first strike in over 40 years. Until their issues are resolved, all members of SAG-AFTRA are not only forbidden to act, they’re no longer allowed to do ANYTHING associated with performing, whether it’s singing and dancing, performing stunts or puppeteering, voice acting or re-recording dialogue, or promoting movies with interviews, personal appearances, or movie premiers. In fact, once union president Fran Drescher announced the strike, the entire cast of “Oppenheimer” left the London premiere. During the strike, agents can’t even negotiate deals for their clients’ future projects! EVERYTHING is shut down, except for autograph signings or things not related to projects under union agreements. If a member isn’t sure about what’s allowed, they are encouraged to contact SAG-AFTRA leadership. Fran Drescher said they made the decision to strike with heavy hearts, but realized they HAVE to do something to address how actors are paid for streaming services, regulating the use of artificial intelligence, and other issues affecting their livelihoods. She said that Hollywood executives “plead poverty that they’re losing money left and right while giving hundreds of millions of dollars to their CEOs. It is disgusting. Shame on them. They stand on the wrong side of history at this very moment. We stand in solidarity in unprecedented unity.”
