The Idiot Sandwich… Clayton Echard is speaking out… Britney Spears’ 2002 film ‘Crossroads’ is returning… Lizzo is facing another lawsuit… and Sophie Turner sues Joe Jonas for children’s return to England
Listen to “Showbiz – Sept 22, 2023” on Spreaker.
Back in 2015 Chef Gordon Ramsay and Julie Chen were guests on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” The three of them did a sketch parodying “Kitchen Nightmares,” with James facing off against Julie while Chef Ramsay screams at them the entire time. At one point, Chef Ramsay takes two pieces of bread, puts one on each of Julie’s ears, and makes her call herself an idiot sandwich. It becomes a huge memory and Gordon says, to this day, “Wherever I go, there’s some young kid somewhere that wants to be called an ‘idiot sandwich.’” So guess what? Gordon is developing a new show for Fox called…… “Idiot Sandwich”! And yes, it’s a sandwich-making competition.

Former Bachelor Clayton Echard gave his final rose to Susie Evans. Shockingly, that relationship didn’t work out. Maybe this one will? A woman claims she had a one-night stand with Clayton that resulted in her being pregnant with twins, which are due in February. What are the odds! This woman – who is remaining anonymous — told “The Sun” that she asked Clayton to take a paternity test and even paid $725 for it, but he refused. So she filed a lawsuit to force him to take it. Clayton told “The Sun,” first of all, he never hooked up with this woman. And then yesterday, he posted a screenshot of a receipt dated 09/21/2023 showing he paid $725 for a paternity test, captioning it, “This is the timeline. The truth will always set you free.” He included a screenshot of the email he sent to the company confirming the paternity test that said, “…My confusion has been cleared up. I will take my portion of the test on the 27th of September. (Name redacted) will take her portion on the 2nd of October. Results will then take about a week to get back. I believe we’re all on the same page now.”

To capitalize on the release of her highly anticipated memoir on Oct. 24, Britney Spears’ 2002 movie “Crossroads” will hit 875 screens in 24 countries on Oct. 23 and Oct. 25. They’re not running it on Oct. 24 so everyone can focus all their time, energy and money on buying a copy of “The Woman in Me.” The movie is based on a story idea from Britney. She and her estranged childhood friends — played by Zoe Saldaña and Taryn Manning — reunite on the night of their high school graduation to dig up their “wish box.” They end up hitting the road for a cross-country trip where Britney hopes to reunite with her mom, played by Kim Cattrell. By the way, I was today-years-old when I found out SHONDA FREAKING RHIMES wrote script for “Crossroads”! The screenings will include a bonus sing-along of two Britney songs that were part of the film, but never seen in theaters. RCA Records will release a “Crossroads: Special Edition” of the soundtrack with three new Britney remixes of “Overprotected,” “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” and “I Love Rock ’N Roll.” There will also be a “Crossroads” inspired line of merchandise that includes tops, sweats and jackets, as well as recreations of the iconic looks worn in the movie.

Lizzo is facing another lawsuit from a former employee. Fashion designer Asha Daniels says she was hired by Lizzo’s wardrobe manager to join the tour this year. Asha is now suing for sexual harassment, racial harassment, and disability discrimination, among other things. She told NBC News it was like “living in a madhouse.” Among her claims, Asha says she wasn’t allowed to dress sexy around Lizzo because she’d get jealous when her boyfriend was around other beautiful women. She also claims her direct boss — wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura —would mock Lizzo’s backup dancers, calling them “fat,” “useless,” and “dumb,” and forced them to change in front of Lizzo’s stage crew who would allegedly “lewdly gawk, sneer, and giggle while watching the dancers rush through their outfit changes.” Asha told NBC News, “I was witnessing myself the dancers and the background vocalists and my local team in every city be harassed and bullied regularly.” She also claims she was forced to work 20-hour days, even while injured. As a result of her treatment, Asha claims she now suffers from PTSD, migraines, ocular distortions, brain fog and fatigue. She’s asking for damages, including unpaid wages and loss of earnings. Lizzo’s spokesperson told BuzzFeed “an ambulance-chasing lawyer” recruited someone “to file a bogus, absurd publicity-stunt lawsuit who, wait for it, never actually met or even spoke with Lizzo. We will pay this as much attention as it deserves. None.”

Things got real ugly REAL quick in the Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner divorce. Yesterday, Sophie filed a lawsuit claiming Joe has basically abducted their 3- and 1-year-old daughters, refusing to hand over their passports so she can take them back to England with her. In the filing, Sophie claims she and Joe made the decision to raise their daughters in the UK, so they sold their home in Miami and found a place in Oxford. In fact, contracts were exchanged on July 7, with the closing date scheduled for Dec. 2. But Sophie claims she was blindsided when Joe filed for divorce. She acknowledged they’d had a fight on Aug. 15 — which was Joe’s 34th birthday — but she thought things were fine. However, trouble was brewing, and Joe filed for divorce on Sept. 5. But Sophie claims she found out about it in the press, just like the rest of us! Sophie also claims she reluctantly agreed to let Joe take their daughters on tour with him while she filmed a TV series in England. She said it made more sense because she would be working days while their girls are awake, while Joe would be working nights, while the girls were asleep. They figured having one parent present for them during the day was better than none. But it was always a temporary arrangement, and now she’s ready to have her girls in England with her. Her lawsuit calls for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.” Joe’s rep says this is all wrong. First of all, the rep says Sophie was aware he was filing for divorce, so she wasn’t blindsided in the press. Also, Joe has no problem with Sophie seeing their daughters. In fact, they’ve been with her since their “cordial meeting” this past Sunday to discuss co-parenting. The rep also said, “When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst.” Joe also claims he is legally prohibited from giving Sophie their childrens’ passports because the Florida court where he filed for divorce has an order in place restricting either parent from leaving the country with the kids.
