Disney+ Premium… Reality TV updates… What’s going on with Lil Tay?… and Taylor Swift Announces ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’
Listen to “Showbiz – Aug 10, 2023” on Spreaker.
It’s about to cost you more to consume mediocre Marvel and “Star Wars” content. Disney is raising the price of its Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions. As of Oct. 12, if you don’t want to watch ads, the price for Disney+ and Hulu are both going up by $3/month. So it’ll be $13.99/month for Disney+ and $17.99/month for Hulu. If you don’t mind watching ads, the prices will stay the same — $7.99 each. But even with ads ESPN+ is going up a buck to $10.99/month. And here’s another little punch in the gut. Disney has seen how successful Netflix has been in cracking down on password-sharing , and they want to get in on it. They may roll out some kind of fix next year.
Disney+ Premium (with no ads) will have a price increase from $10.99 to $13.99/month for U.S. customers.

Luke Jones has been fired from “Below Deck Mediterranean” after drunkenly — and nakedly! — crawling into Margot Sisson’s bed, while she was drunk and passed out asleep. The crew had been out in Cairns, Australia, and they all got pretty wasted. On the way back to the boat, Luke kept trying to flirt with Margot, asking her to cuddle with him. She not only declined, she let him know she wanted to go to bed by herself. When they got back to the boat, Luke — who was wearing his boxers at this point — went into Margot’s cabin and asked her to join him in the hot tub. Again, she declined. She told her friend Aesha, “I don’t want to go in the jacuzzi, I want to go to bed. All I want is water and bed. No Luke.” But when Luke got back from the hot tub, he went straight to Margot’s cabin, where she was passed out asleep. When he got into her bed naked, producers intervened. When Luke told them to get out, the producers said, “We can’t do that. She said no. She said NO.” When Aesha checked on Margot, she had been so out of it, she didn’t even realize what had happened. When Aesha told her, she said, “Ew! He was naked?” And when Aesha asked if she consented to him being there, Margot said no, she was asleep and had not invited him into her bed. As a result, Captain Jason fired Luke. But then, second stew Laura took up for Luke, saying he should’ve been warned instead of fired. She told Margot Luke was simply joking and that he was drunk, but then she implied that Margot may have been at fault, too. Captain Jason wasn’t having none of that, so he fired Laura, too!

Luke Valentine was having a conversation with some of the guys in the Big Brother house when he dropped the N-word. Reportedly, he wasn’t using it as a hateful slur. It was more like, in place of the word, “bro.” Luke immediately realized he shouldn’t have said that and apologized. But Jared Fields — who is black — told Luke that it didn’t bother him. In fact, Jared said, “In situations like that where it should be uncomfortable for a black man, white people get more uncomfortable.” Well, even though Jared was cool with it, CBS was not. After releasing Luke from the show, they released this statement: “Luke violated the BIG BROTHER code of conduct and there is zero tolerance in the house for using a racial slur. He has been removed from the house.” Luke’s departure will be addressed on tonight’s broadcast.

Back in 2018, 9-year-old Lil Tay was a social media star. Her real name was Claire Hope, but her older brother Jason had created this whole bad girl persona for her, posting videos of “Lil Tay’ flexing about how much money she had, showing off stacks of cash and fancy cars. She’d get into verbal wars with other young stars like Bhad Bhabie and ended up gaining more that 3m followers. Her social media activity has been non-existent until her Instagram posted yesterday that Lil Tay had passed away at the age of 14. The statement said, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock. Her brother’s passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief. During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother’s passing are still under investigation. Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her.” What an odd statement, right? The Post had no luck reaching Lil Tay’s mom. They did get her dad on the phone, but he said he couldn’t give a comment. Her ex-manager told the US Sun, “Given the complexities of the current circumstances, I am at a point where I cannot definitively confirm or dismiss the legitimacy of the statement issued by the family….I encourage everyone to rely on reputable and official sources for information. We must exercise patience while awaiting further developments before drawing any conclusions.”

Yesterday, a post on Tay’s official Instagram page – the first post on the account since 2018 – stated the young rapper had died.

In the wee hours, Taylor Swift posted a beautiful new album cover and captioned it, “Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you soon! The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long! Pre order 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on my site.” The original “1989” was released in 2014, featuring 13 songs, with 16 on the deluxe version. With huge hits like “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Style,” the album spend 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The re-recorded album is available in four special-edition deluxe CDs — “Crystal Skies Blue,” “Rose Garden Pink,” “Aquamarine Green” and “Sunrise Boulevard Yellow.” It’s also available in “Crystal Skies Blue” vinyl and cassette.
