Emotional movies & shows… Pat Sajak plans to retire… Jennie’s Apology… Hailey Bieber Supports Selena Gomez… and Taylor Swift cancels club membership

Do you ever finish watching a TV show and feel your mood change, either for better or for worse? A recent poll of 2000 US adults with streaming subscriptions found that 81% of them said they can feel the emotional impact of what they watch for up to 2 hours afterwards. And men feel it longer than women — 144 minutes compared to 96 minutes. And over one third of the respondents said they’ve watched a movie or TV show that was so impactful that it changed their lives. Some of the movies mentioned included My Sister’s Keeper, Remember the Titans, Roots and Trainspotting. And 53% love their shows so much, they purposely drag out watching them so they can enjoy it longer. Here are the Top 3 shows to put you in various moods:

  • The happiest shows: Modern Family, Friends, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
  • The most nostalgic shows: Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Seinfeld
  • The most stressful shows: Breaking Bad, Grey’s Anatomy, and Ozark
  • The most emotional shows: Grey’s Anatomy, This Is Us, and Sex & the City

He says “It’s been a wonderful ride,” but Pat Sajak says it’s time to walk away from Wheel of Fortune. He released a statement yesterday saying, “I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!” Last year Pat told Entertainment Tonight that he’d like to leave the show before people tune in, look at him and say, “Ooh….what happened to him?” Back in 2021, both he and Vanna White signed contract extensions that take them through next season. It must’ve been time to negotiate for a contract extension and Pat decided the time was right to go. No word yet on what Vanna has decided to do. Pat has hosted Wheel since 1981, taking over for Chuck Woolery, who debuted the show 6 years earlier with his co-host, Susan Stafford. Vanna joined Pat in 1982 and we’ve been enjoying that Sajak/White chemistry over 40 years!

She’s doing better now, but Jennie Kim had to leave right in the middle of Blackpink’s performance in Melbourne Sunday night. In fan videos posted online, you can see that she’s struggling. Jennie was breathing heavily and leaning on the stage for support before walking off the stage. The group’s management released a statement that said, “We regret to inform you that during the BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR (BORN PINK) IN MELBOURNE performance on June 11, member JENNIE was unable to complete the stage due to her deteriorating condition. JENNIE expressed her strong determination to carry on with the performance until the end. However, following medical advice on site, we immediately took measures to ensure she receives ample rest and stability. JENNIE has conveyed her regrets for not being able to stay with the fans until the end, and assures that she will recover as soon as possible.” Jennie is expected to perform at Blackpink’s next show in Sydney on Friday.

Back in March, Selena Gomez told her fans she’s “always advocated for kindness” and asked them to please stop sending Hailey Bieber “hateful negativity” and death threats. Now, Hailey is returning the favor. Selena posted an Instagram slideshow on Sunday she titled “Crazy about you Paris.” For whatever reason, Hailey’s fans pounced, slamming Selena for always playing the victim and for copying Hailey’s style. One even said, “Justin left you for a reason.” Hailey jumped on her on Instagram to tell her followers, “Just know that I don’t want that, nor do I ever or will I ever support or condone hateful, mean, or nasty comments. Doing that is not supporting me. If you are participating in that you are a part of a culture that I want no part of. Please be nice or don’t say anything.”

During their brief fling, someone at the members-only Casa Cipriani club took pictures of Taylor Swift and Matty Healy on a date, which violates the clubs no photos policy. A source told Page Six that because of that, the club kicked out at least three of its members and Taylor pulled her membership. Page Six has now learned that two members were permanently banned, while one was put on suspension. That member will have to reapply for membership, and good luck with that. When Page Six reached out to Cafe Cipriani, a rep confirmed that “Casa Cipriani revoked memberships to a few members for infringing our club rules.” However, they denied that Taylor pulled her membership.
