‘Harry Potter’ show announces open casting call… People’s Choice Country Awards update… Dave Grohl hired divorce lawyer… Shannon Sharpe allegedly accidentally went live… and Taylor Swift gushes over ‘magic’ Travis Kelce

If you’re the parent of the next child star….and you’re willing to lie about your child’s background and residency….this could be your shot at the big time. HBO is currently casting for their upcoming Harry Potter TV series. They’re specifically looking for kids who will be between the ages of 9 and 11 by April 2025 who will take on the roles of Harry Potter, RonWeasley and Hermione Granger. But there are a few hurdles that need to be cleared before your precious protégé is even considered. In addition to the age thing, these kids need to be residents of the UK or Ireland, which means they come with a built-in accent. Applicants have until October 31 to submit 2 video auditions. One should be 30 seconds max, featuring the child reading a short poem or a monologue or an original essay — ANYTHING other than something straight out of Harry Potter. The second vide should be one minute max, featuring the child telling a little bit about him- or her-self, including their date of birth, height, and where they live. They’re pretty adamant about that residency stuff. Also in that minute, the child should describe a family member, friend or pet they’re particularly close to. Good luck!

The Second Annual People’s Choice Country Awards are 2 weeks from today, live from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, hosted by the lovely Shania Twain. You can watch live on NBC or Peacock. Just like the regular People’s Choice Awards, fans vote for their favorites in 18 different categories, and then the top 8 are officially nominated. Voting has been closed for a few weeks now, but Zach Bryan leads with 19. And even though she was completely shut out at the CMAs, Beyoncé has the second-highest PCCA nominations with 17. Miranda Lambert is set to receive the Country Icon award, while Kane Brown will receive the Country Champion award. Performers include Miranda and Kane, along with Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Lady A, Parker McCollum and The War and Treaty.

Here’s an interesting tidbit. Dave Grohl released a statement on Instagram saying, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness…” Now we’ve learned that right before Dave made that statement vowing to save his marriage, he consulted a divorce attorney. Meantime, Dave said this viral photo and statement from a woman who claims to be the mother of this love child named Roxie Junie Grohl is a fake.

So yesterday afternoon, if you are one of Shannon Sharpe’s 3.2M Instagram followers and you happened to be on the app, you wouldn’t gotten a notification that Shannon had gone live. And when you clicked to join, my oh my………you would’ve heard — and fortunately not SEEN — a woman having a very lovely time for about a minute and a half. At first, Shannon hopped on X and claimed his Instagram had been hacked, but then he decided to come clean. He explained on his podcast, “I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity….I did not know IG live. I’ve never turned IG live on so I don’t know how it works and all of sudden my other phone started going off.” Multiple people were calling Shannon to let him know what was happening. It was his marketing manager who was finally able to get through, and the woman quickly ended the live stream. Shannon said, “My heart sank. I called my agent, I called the agency, I called ESPN and I (thought) just tell them the truth. My phone wasn’t hacked, it wasn’t a prank, it was me being a healthy, active male.”

Taylor Swift went into the VMAs with the most nominations — 12 — and walked away with the most wins — 7. It was all about the video for “Fortnight,” which won Best Collaboration, Best Editing, Best Direction, and ultimately, Video of the Year. Taylor sent fans into a full meltdown when she thanked her boyfriend Travis Kelce by name, saying, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness, fun, and magic. So I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that.” But was Fortnight the rightful winner of Song of Summer? Did we REALLY hear that song more than Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things, Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please or Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s I Had Some Help? And was Katy Perry’s Roar TRULY the VMAs’ Most Iconic Performance? More iconic than Madonna kissing Britney and Christina?? But congratulations to Best New Artist Chappell Roan, who beat out Benson Boone, Gracie Abrams, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims and Tyla.
