Suzanne Somers has died at 76… Taylor Swift dominates box office… ‘Netflix House’… Gigi Hadid & Bradley Cooper update… and Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce at ‘SNL’ after party
Suzanne Somers passed away yesterday, the day before what would’ve been her 77th birthday today. Back on July 31, Suzanne announced on her Instagram, “…I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down. I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me. I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter.” Suzanne wasn’t lying about that. Suzanne battled an aggressive form of breast cancer off and on for 23 years, and made headlines when she chose alternative methods of treating it rather than going through chemo. That’s not the only time she made headlines. Back in 1977, a sitcom my parents refused to let me watch called “Three’s Company” debuted and Suzanne was the breakout star. And as the star, Suzanne went to her bosses and asked for a pay raise comparable to what John Ritter was making, which was $150K per episode. They not only refused, they fired her. But Suzanne had the last laugh. To make ends meet, she did some gigs in Vegas and even posed for Playboy, but after a decade of hustling, in 1990 Suzanne became the spokesperson for the ThighMaster and went on to earn $300M.

It didn’t QUITE reach the projected $100M mark, but Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film opened with $97M, making it the biggest opening ever for a concert film. Globally, the movie took in $126M, so it has MORE than earned back the $20M it cost to produce. “The Exorcist: Believer” was way behind in second, earning another $11M in its second weekend. Third place belongs to “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” with $7M, followed by “Saw X” with $5.7M and “The Creator” with $4.3M. This movie was a huge disappointment for the studios — and the people who star in it! It had a production budget of $80M and as of this weekend’s global box office, it’s close to breaking even.

Netflix has announced that they’re going to start opening actual brick-and-mortar stores that offer retail, dining, and live entertainment related to Netflix shows and movies. The stores will be called Netflix House, and the first two will open somewhere in the US in 2025. Earlier this year, Netflix opened a pop-up restaurant in LA featuring menu items created by chefs associated with Netflix cooking shows. The company has also launched pop-up stores offering merchandise from its hit show “Stranger Things.” It was also involved in The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, a traveling production that recreated sets from the Netflix show Bridgerton with actors, live music and dancing.

About a week and a half ago, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper had dinner and then basically took off together for the weekend. Now we know where they went — allegedly — thanks to “The Mirror.” Their source says Gigi and Bradley have been using Taylor Swift’s home in Rhode Island as their “secret love nest.” The source said, “Taylor is a total romantic and loves playing cupid for her friends…(And) even though Gigi and Bradley have their own properties in New York, they wanted somewhere more private to spend time getting to know each other and Taylor was only too happy to help. She said the door to her home is always open for them to use.” Bradley has been single since splitting with Irina Shayk in June 2019. Gigi was finally done with Zayn Malik in October 2021.

The Chiefs played this past Thursday night, so Travis Kelce has a longer-than-usual break between games. He used that opportunity to hang out with Taylor Swift in her New York stomping grounds. Saturday night, the two of them went to Nobu for dinner and then sneaked over to 30 Rock where Travis made a surprise cameo in an SNL skit about NFL commentators and Taylor surprised the audience by introducing the second performance of Pete Davidson’s musical guest Ice Spice. Afterwards, Travis and Taylor went to the SNL after party at Catch Steak. A source told Page Six they arrived around 2:20am and were openly affectionate with each other. The source said, “They do seem in love. She seemed really excited around him, and giddy and happy like a schoolgirl.” The couple eventually left around 4am and headed back to Taylor’s place. Travis didn’t get a ton of beauty sleep. The next morning, he left for NJ to watch his brother Jason, who plays for the Eagles, take on the Jets. Unlike Taylor for Travis, Travis was NOT his brother’s good luck charm, and the Eagles lost, 20-14.
