The Oscar nominations were announced

Will there be a “Friends” reunion?… Nick Carter’s third arrest… Alan Rickman dies at 69… Gwen Stefani will return for “The Voice”… and The Oscar nominations were announced

My Facebook feed went crazy nuts with the news that after all these years, there’s FINALLY going to be a “Friends” reunion. Yes, the cast will reunite on NBC for a 2-hour special honoring comedy director James Burrows. Will they be in character? Will they even be in the same room? While all six have confirmed they’ll do it, NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt says they’re not sure logistically they get them all together at the same time. James Burrows, by the way, recently shot his 1000th episode behind the camera. Among his directing credits are “Taxi,” “Cheers,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” and 15 episodes of “Friends.”

Nick Carter’s mugshot is online this morning and it’s not too bad, actually. He was arrested after getting into a bar fight at the Hog’s Breath Saloon in Key West, Florida, last night. Bad timing for Nick. He and his wife Lauren Kitt are expecting their first baby — a boy! And he’s supposed to go on tour in February to support his solo album. This is Nick’s third arrest. Back in 2002 he was arrested after an incident at a nightclub and in 2005 he was busted for DUI.

Harry Potter fans are sad to hear that the actor who played Professor Snape has lost his battle to cancer.  British actor Alan Rickman was 69. You probably saw Alan a lot over the holidays. He played the cheating husband Harry who was married to Emma Thompson’s character, Karen. And his last movie, “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” comes out in May.

Christina Aguilera is kicking Gwen Stefani out of her seat when “The Voice” returns for its 10th season on February 29. But remember how Blake Shelton said on “Extra” that he wished there was a way they could add another chair to the set and have a fifth coach? Well, producers didn’t go for that, but Blake did find a way to make sure he could spend time with his girlfriend. Sources say Gwen will serve as a mentor for Team Blake!

The Oscars will be handed out on February 28 with Chris Rock serving as host. The nominations were announced this morning.
