Ryan Seacrest Is Leaving E!’s Live From the Red Carpet… Harry Styles in Amazon’s ‘My Policeman’… Gigi Hadid’s new world… Matt James addresses allegations against Rachael… and The Weeknd’s entire Super Bowl halftime show will take place in the stands
Listen to “Showbiz – Feb 5, 2021” on Spreaker.

And just like that, Ryan Seacrest is done. He released a statement on Instagram saying, “After 14 years of hosting ‘E!’s Live from the Red Carpet’ I’ve decided to move on to new adventures. I’ll miss the whole crew that works so hard behind the scenes and of course my amazing partner Giuliana. Thanks to everyone for watching all these years.” We don’t know who will fill Ryan’s patent leather shoes moving forward, but the next awards show is the Golden Globes on Feb. 28. But will there even BE a red carpet for that?

In movie and TV news, Harry Styles will star in a movie for Amazon called “My Policeman.” In the movie, Harry’s character has a romantic relationship with another man during the 1950s, when homosexuality was illegal. Emma Corrin will play Harry’s wife. Emma just earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Princess Diana in “The Crown.” And two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger is headed to TV for the first time. She is set to star in and executive produce a 6-episode series called “The Thing About Pam.” It’s based on the very popular true crime podcast of the same name, which is about a 2011 murder that was featured on “Dateline NBC.” Renée will play the juicy role of Pam. I just hope Keith Morrison’s narration is incorporated somehow!

Gigi Hadid has landed her first solo cover on “Vogue.” In the accompanying article, Gigi opens up about the birth of her baby girl Khai back in September. Gigi said the original plan was to have the baby in a NYC hospital, but she changed her mind, in part because of COVID restrictions and also after she and baby daddy Zayn Malik watched the 2008 documentary, “The Business of Being Born.” So they decided on a home birth at their family farm in Pennsylvania. In addition to Gigi and Zayn, the only people there were her mom Yolanda, her sister Bella, her assistant, and the midwife. Gigi said she decided she wanted a natural birth, but there was a moment during labor when she had second thoughts. But she said, “My midwife looked at me and was like, ‘You’re doing it. No one can help you. You’re past the point of the epidural anyway, so you’d be pushing exactly the same way in a hospital bed.’” Gigi said she’s sure she looked crazy, like “an animal woman.” She explained, “I had to dig deep. I knew it was going to be the craziest pain in my life, but you have to surrender to it and be like, ‘This is what it is.’ I loved that.” She said she didn’t even realize the baby was out until she looked up and saw Zayn holding her! Gigi said, “I know my mom and Zayn and Bella were proud of me, but at certain points I saw each of them in terror. Afterward, Z and I looked at each other and were like, We can have some time before we do that again.”

Matt James’ frontrunner seems to be Rachael Kirkconnell — the woman who walked away with bags of clothes and a pair of red-bottom Christian Louboutins on the last episode of “The Bachelor.” Now a TikToker named Maddy Bierster is coming for her. Maddy claims Rachael bullied her in high school because she liked Black guys, which led others to share similar stories. Maddy shared one of her DMs that read, “(Rachael) was openly racist towards black people (I remember her making remarks when they were trying to get into bars in Milledgeville about how ‘their kind isn’t allowed’). She bullied half her pledge class and a girl literally ended up dropping out because of her….Her and her friend group were a big reason I had to transfer schools.” Entertainment Tonight asked Matt about the rumors and he said, “I have not spoken to anybody since the show ended, but I would say that you have to be really careful about what you are doing on social media. Rumors are dark and nasty and can ruin people’s lives. So I would give people the benefit of the doubt, and hopefully she will have her time to speak on that.”

The Weeknd is the Super Bowl Halftime performer on Sunday. In this season of COVID-19, things will look way different. Page Six is reporting that the entire show will take place in the stands, with nothing on the field. The stands will be filled with about 22K fans — about a third of its capacity. Who knows how this is going to work, but their source said, “Wait till you see it. It’s beautifully done. It’s different and it’s historic.” The Halftime Show is usually assembled by about 5000 people in 13 minutes, including the performance. But their source says this year, “it’s a total of 1000 people, and they can’t touch the field.” And to make sure everything meets his standards, The Weeknd put up $7M of his own money into the production. But despite rumors that he would be joined by a special guest, The Weeknd said he’ll be performing solo, adding “We’ll keep it PG for the families.”
