Tom Cruise Demands Hotel Staff To Walk Backwards

Aretha Franklin tribute concert… Bewitched reboot… Riverdale star Camila Mendes & Victor Houston split… KSI vs Logan Paul fight… and Tom Cruise demands hotel staff to walk backwards

Several events are planned in Detroit next week to honor the life of the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Public visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at the African Museum of History. On Thursday, her viewing will be moved to the New Bethel Baptist Church, but the viewing is limited to those close to Aretha as well as the congregation there, I believe. That night, there will be a tribute concert featuring Gladys Knight, Johnny Gill and more. They’re still adding names to the lineup. And then the funeral is scheduled for Friday at the Greater Grace Temple. That’s only family members, friends, selected guests, but if there are any seats left, they will allow some members of the public to fill them. And it’s going to be a celebration of Aretha’s life filled with music performed by TWENTY THREE artists, including Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Chaka Khan, and a couple of gospel choirs. And Mary Kay’s national sales director put out the call for all owners of pink Cadillacs to show up for the funeral and those cars will be parked out the church during the funeral.

“Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris is moving over to Netflix for a deal reportedly worth $100 million. But he’s giving ABC one more gift to ABC before he leaves — a reboot of “Bewitched,” which aired on ABC from 1964-1972. But this time, the married witch and the mortal will be an interracial couple. The show was pitched like this: “Samantha, a black hardworking, single mom, who happens to be a witch, marries Darren, a white mortal who happens to be a bit of a slacker. They struggle to navigate their differences as she discovers that even when a black girl is literally magic, she’s still not as powerful as a decently tall white man with a full head of hair in America.”

This is for all the “Riverdale” fans, including my daughter! Camila Mendes — who plays Veronica — is single again after ending a very short relationship with Victor Houston. Camila and Victor went to neighboring high schools in Florida and they knew each other back then, but they’d only been dating for two months. A source told E! News that Camila ended things with Victor after ComicCon “when she realized she wasn’t ready to be in this relationship anymore.” The source says Victor was “blindsided” and “very heartbroken.” So all you “Riverdale” fans back off of him! Apparently he’s been getting a lot of backlash from fans and the breakup was not his fault.

This Saturday, it’s the fight of the century! Or at least, the only fight going on tomorrow that the kids care about. Logan Paul vs. KSI — two YouTube stars battling it out on YouTube. It only costs you $10 to stream it, and even though J-Si says it starts at noon Central, I read that it starts at 6pm Central. Tens of thousands are expected at Manchester Arena in England with some of YouTube’s other stars sitting ringside. This is actually the first of two fights planned for Logan and KSI. The second one is happening somewhere in the US in February. They’re still working out the details on that.

RadarOnline.com is reporting that when Tom Cruise broke his ankle filming “Mission: Impossible,” he ordered the hotel staff at the luxury Corinthia Hotel London to walk into his room backwards! Their source said it was because of his Scientology beliefs. Apparently, Tom is convinced that his religion gives him miraculous healing powers, and he didn’t want people seeing him un-healed and in pain. Their source said, “It made everyone’s lives hard as they had to open doors with their backs while carrying trays stacked with the health foods Tom makes them order in, and it was a nightmare for cleaners.” But the source said he didn’t want anyone seeing evidence that Scientologists’ claims of possessing miraculous power wasn’t up to snuff!
