Bono says it was his fault… Hacker from Ipswich… Matthew Perry opens up… When We Were Young Festival cancels… and Travis Scott denies rumors he cheated

One of the biggest flops in tech history has to be iTunes automatically adding a new U2 album to every one of iTunes’ 500M user accounts for free. What’s wrong with that? We like free. But not everyone likes U2 and not everybody wanted that album. Bono finally addresses the controversy in his new memoir, which is out Nov. 1. In it, he admits the whole thing was his idea and he set up a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook to pitch it. Bono said Tim was confused by the idea, saying, “You want to give this music away free? But the whole point of what we’re trying to do at Apple is to not give away music free.” And Bono said, “I don’t think we give it away for free…you pay us for it and then you give it away free, as a gift to people. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?… It’s their choice whether they want to listen to it. What was the worst that could happen? It would be like junk mail. Wouldn’t it?” But then Bono found out how much people — including me! — didn’t think this was a great idea. He said, “Critics might accuse me of overreach. It is…..At first I thought this was just an internet squall…But quite quickly we realized we’d bumped into a serious discussion about the access of big tech to our lives.”

A hacker from England who stole two unreleased songs by Ed Sheeran and 12 songs by Lil Uzi Vert then sold them for $148K in cryptocurrency on the dark web has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. Back in 2019, several musicians reported that someone using the name Spirdark had hacked into their cloud-based accounts and was selling their content online. Investigators eventually tracked down Adrian Kwiatkowski in a little town called Ipswich, England. When they arrested him, London police found seven devices containing 1263 unreleased songs by 89 different artists. Officials also found Adrian’s Bitcoins and the hard drive where he laid out the method he used to hack into all those accounts.

Matthew Perry sat down with Diane Sawyer to promote his new memoir, which, like Bono’s, is out Nov. 1. The interview with Diane will air this Friday night on ABC. Matthew tells Diane that he’s been sober for 18 months, and probably spent about $9M trying to get there. That means he would’ve been newly sober when they taped the “Friends” reunion special for HBO Max. Matthew said his alcohol addiction began when he was 24 and that by age 34, he was “entrenched in a lot of trouble.” At one point, Matthew said while taping “Friends,” he was taking 55 Vicodin a day and dropped down to 128 pounds, but didn’t know how to stop. He said he first tried rehab in 1997 and ended up going 15 times before he got clean. That finally happened after doctors gave him a 2 percent chance of survival and strapped a colostomy bag on his side for 9 months. Rather than living with that for the rest of his life, Matthew got sober. But Matthew said he wanted to wait until he was “pretty safely sober and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction” before he began writing his memoir, believing his story could help people.

Winds were so bad in Las Vegas on Saturday that just an hour before gates were to open, organizers of the When We Were Young music festival pulled the plug on that day’s performances. But that’s not the only thing the winds ruined. To celebrate Kim Kardashian’s 42nd birthday, Kylie Jenner chartered a private jet for Kim, their mom Kris and a handful of friends to fly to Vegas, have a big fancy dinner, and then go see Usher’s sold-out show. Kim posted a quick video of herself and the ladies on the jet, taking jello shots and whooping it up. But less than an hour later, Kim hopped back on Instagram to let everybody know the plane was heading back home. After making two attempts at landing, the winds were just too much and the pilot wasn’t going to risk it. To make the most of the night, the ladies went to In-N-Out for burgers — Kim had to wear a boa to cover up her skimpy top — and later Kim shared another video of herself taking another jello shot, captioning it, “The jello shots continue on the party bus to no where.’

The secret to being the side piece for a celebrity in a committed relationship? Keeping it secret. For years there has been an Instagram model named Rojean Kar — she goes by @yungsweetro — who’s been linked to Travis Scott. There are some IG photos going back to 2013 that show them in the same place. That was before Travis started dating Kylie Jenner in 2017, and that relationship quickly resulted in their baby Stormi being born the following year. But that same year, Travis posted an IG pic from a ski trip and wouldn’t you know, the next day, Rojean posted a pic from her ski trip and it certainly looked like Travis was cheating on Kylie. However, Rojean jumped on social media and said, “None of these rumors are true, it’s just the internet creating a false narrative. Please stop spreading lies and leave him, her & I alone because it’s affecting real lives. Thank you.” That may or may not have led to Kylie and Travis breaking up for a while, but apparently they worked things out and had a son together — still waiting on that name, Kylie! But now, here we go again. Rojean posted a video from the set of some project with Travis in the background and tried to be all cute about tit. When people started calling her out for seeing Travis again behind Kylie’s back, Rojean denied it. But that’s when Travis made a bad move. He went on his IG Story to deny even knowing who Rojean is! He posted, “…An uninvited person was sneaking photos on what was supposed to be a closed set while I was directing a video. I’m saying this for the last time. I don’t know this person. I’ve never been with this person. So please stop with the continuous cyber games and the fictional storytelling.” THAT’S what did it. Rojean can handle being a secret side piece, but she will NOT be called a liar. She went off, saying, “Okay, so what we’re not going to do is we’re not going to lie on me because…I’ve been good. I posted whatever (BLANKING) Story you guys wanted me to post. I pretended I didn’t know you, went along with whatever (BLANKING) narrative you guys wanted to no matter how much bulls**t I got from it. But to say you don’t know me and you’ve never been with me, when you’ve definitely been with me, when everyone’s seen you with me, when I have pictures and videos of you with me…c’mon. C’mon, sir.” Rojean went on to claim, “Even this Valentine’s Day, I saw you, I ran out the door, and you had every single girl I know blowing me up, like ‘Trav‘s asking for you, come back.’ Are we pretending that didn’t happen too? Like, c’mon. You cheat on that b**** every single night. The whole (BLANKING) city sees it. Don’t do this.” Travis then posted — and later deleted — a photo taken on Valentine’s Day at 8:09pm, captioning it, “If u wasn’t at this table on V day then u wasn’t with me 🙄🙄🙄🙄” implying that this was the table he shared with Kylie. Rojean fired back, “Maybe your brain is all scrambled from like all the Molly you take.. but you was at Gunna’s party on Feb 14th aka Valentine’s Day 😂” And in another post — also since deleted — Travis shared a message from a woman who says she’s worked with Travis for 8 years and that she was on the set all day he was directing a video for another artist. She said Rojean was not with Travis and called her delusional.
