Janet Jackson is negotiating a new residency… Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell are in final talks… Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez update… Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco engagement rumors… and Zac Efron is on the mend

Janet Jackson is in the final stages finalizing a brief residency at Resorts World in Las Vegas. The plan is for her show to kick off in December, and it includes a huge NYE performance. It was rumored that Janet was offered a residency in London but passed on that because the Vegas deal pays more. This isn’t Janet’s first go-round in Vegas. Back in 2019, she did a stint with Park MGM called Metamorphosis. It was initially a 15-show deal, but Janet ended up doing 18 and grossing $13M. That’s chump change for Celine Dion, whose Vegas residency grossed a reported $385M. She’s also finalizing her big return to Vegas with a residency at Resorts World, which will likely kick off late this year or in early 2025.

In a couple of Deadline exclusives, Jenna Ortega reportedly is in final talks to join JJ Abrams’ secret movie at Warner Bros. in a role that would cast her opposite of Glen Powell, who is also reportedly finalizing his deal for this project. The movie doesn’t have a title yet and from what Deadline has learned, this is NOT a time-travel movie. And in other casting news, Robert Pattinson and Zendaya reportedly are in early negotiations to star in an A24 movie called The Drama, which reportedly is about a romance that takes an unexpected turn right before the couple’s wedding day.

Daily Mail is reporting that the paperwork for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce is “finalized, but not yet turned in.” They are also no longer on speaking terms — especially after Ben closed on his new $20M house on July 24 — which happened to be Jennifer’s 55th birthday. That was cold! And now, Jennifer is doing some house-hunting of her own. In May of last year, Ben and Jen bought a mansion in Beverly Hills for $61M, which they’re now trying to unload for $68M. She and her daughter Emme were just spotted touring another $68M mansion about 15 minutes away, but also in Beverly Hills.

Deuxmoi shared a blind item from an anonymous source claiming that, “This A-list actress/semi-retired got engaged over the weekend to her boyfriend of a year” and that they were “surrounded by friends at their usual beach hangout.” Fans started doing the math and realized that Selena Gomez recently celebrated her 32nd birthday at the beach, so this must be about Selena and Benny Blanco.

TMZ finally found out what happened to Zac Efron in Ibiza. Their sources say he dived into the swimming pool and went a little too deep, hitting the bottom of the pool and ingesting water into his lungs. After showing signs of distress, onsite security helped pull a dazed Zac out of the water. He was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, where X-rays showed all the water was gone from his lungs. Zac was cleared for release within just a few hours, but remained in the hospital because of all the paparazzi outside. But Zac truly is doing just fine, and he flew back to the US yesterday.
