The stars of “Glee” gathered yesterday to remember Cory Monteith. The private memorial was organized by the show’s creator Ryan Murphy and Cory’s on-screen and real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele. Fox issued a statement saying, “We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time.” It was announced last week that the season 5 premiere of “Glee” is being pushed back a week to September 26. And the death of Cory’s character, Finn, will be written into the series.
Nick Carter is back on tour with the Backstreet Boys and he loves it all and all that….But do you know what else he’s a huge fan of? Horror movies. Nick loves them so much that he started an Indiegogo fund, hoping to raise $85K to make a horror movie he co-wrote called “Evil Blessings.” Nick says he’s passionate about this music, but he’s ready to start pursuing his other dream now, which is to become a film producer and screenwriter.
MTV announced yesterday that Lady Gaga will debut her new single at the 30th annual VMAs on August 20. Her fifth album, “ARTPOP,” is due out in November. Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are tied for the most VMA nominations with six. Justin’s “Mirrors” and Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” are up for Video of the Year. Also in that category, Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven,” Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”
Rihanna filed a lawsuit against her former accountants, accusing them of mismanaging millions of dollars, which she wanted back. They said, Nuh-uh! You’ve just got a bad spending habit and we don’t owe you anything! To defend themselves, the accountants have tried to get Rihanna to sit down for a deposition on at least four occasions. She blew them off each time. The accountants finally went to a judge, asking that they be reimbursed for all the time and legal fees she’s causing them to waste. The judge agreed, fining Rihanna $47K. Her next deposition is scheduled for August 28. If she misses that one, the case could be dismissed.
Amanda Bynes’ hospital stay has ben extended to two weeks and her parents are going to court today to try to get conservatorship over her. Sources told TMZ that doctors have determined that Amanda is suffering from a severe mental illness with schizophrenic tendencies. The source said that yesterday, for instance, Amanda was completely lucid for ten hours, but then out of nowhere, it’s like a switch was flipped and she went nuts when she found out her dog was being watched by her parents. For the next hour, she was screaming about how her parents will kill her dog, just like they tried to kill her. TMZ is also reporting that Amanda was drug-tested and everything came up negative, except for marijuana. By the way, Amanda is broke, so how did she get from NY to LA? It turns out that Sam Lufti bought her ticket. Yes, this is the same Sam Lufti who managed Britney Spears when she went through her downward spiral.
