More FYRE Fest updates. New shows now streaming. Women going to space. We have MORE Hollywood updates!

If you’re hunkering down at home tonight, here’s what’s happening on TV. On Hulu, we’ve got the series premiere of Dying for Sex starring Michelle Williams. She plays a woman who makes a sexual bucket list after being diagnosed with Stage IV cancer.  Jenny Slate plays her best friend. On Peacock, it’s the streaming premiere of Girl You Know It’s True, a movie about the rise and fall of lip-synching superstars Milli Vanilli. Saturday night, Jack Black hosts SNL with musical guests Elton John and Brandi Carlile. And then Sunday night, you can get even more of Elton and Brandi on An Evening with Elton John and Brandi Carlile. It’s also the third season finale of The White Lotus on Max and Hollywood Week begins on American Idol

Last week we found out that Kermit the Frog will be the commencement speaker for the University of Maryland’s graduation ceremony in May. The late Muppets creator Jim Henson was an alum and actually introduced Kermit while he was a student at the university. Some students are excited about having Kermit speak, others are confused. One senior said his knee-jerk reaction about having a puppet as a commencement speaker was that it’s silly and pointless. But the more he thought about it, he thinks it’s fun and unique. And now it’s been announced that Jennifer Coolidge will give the commencement address at her alma mater, Emerson College. Inaddition to her speech, Jennifer will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree

While the disastrous live-action remake of Snow White continues to play out in theaters, Disney has pressed pause on its live-action adaptation of Tangled. They’ve had mixed success with previous live-action remakes. Besides the controversy that started way before filming even began, maybe we’re just all burned out on the concept. While Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King earned over a billion dollars globally, The Little Mermaid grossed a lukewarm $570M and Dumbo and Pete’s Dragon flat-out bombed. Studio execs were hoping Snow White would be more like Mufasa: The Lion King, which started off slow but when on to earn $718M globally, but at this point, it doesn’t look good. Meantime, the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch is set for May 23 and the live-action version of Moana is scheduled for July 2026.

Olivia Munn is asking the same question a lot of us are: What’s the point of the upcoming all-female Blue Origin space flight? Jeff Bezos’ fiancee Lauren Sanchez, Katy Perry, Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn and former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe are scheduled to take off on an 11-minute flight on April 14. On Today with Jenna and Friends yesterday, Olivia said, “I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now. What are you guys gonna do up in space? What are you doing up there?” Jenna explained they’d spend four of their 11 minutes floating around inside the rocket and admiring the earth from afar. Olivia said, “If you wanna go to space, why do you need to tell us about it? It’s just like, go up there, have a good time, come on down.” Olivia also thinks it’s an obnoxious waste of money, and when she was told the entire crew will be getting glam, she said, “What?? They said this out loud??!! What’s the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s a bit gluttonous. Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?”

Despite what was announced last week, a city official says Fyre Festival 2 is “fake news” and it is NOT happening in Playa del Carmen. But what about last week when Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland claimed they had all the permits? What about that man they introduced as Playa del Carmen’s secretary of citizen security, saying they were already coordinating on all the security and safety issues? Now a city official has told The US Sun, “I am sorry there is no Fyre Festival 2. Playa del Carmen knows nothing about it.”  Fyre Festival was originally supposed to take place on Isla Mujeres, but officials there said they didn’t know anything about it, either. But Billy and his team are sticking to their story. From May 30-June 2, they claim to be preparing for 1800 guests and 40 live performances. We’re still waiting for those promised artist announcements on social media. If you want to take a huge risk on this, just remember what it says on the website:  “All Ticket sales are final. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES.”
