“My name is Heather Silera and I work in an alternative high school program for students who are at risk for dropping out of high school in Norwich, CT. One of the things we do in my program is provide food for our students every week. Many of our students are low-income and some of them are even homeless. The local food banks we typically use have been low on food. My colleagues and I have been pooling together with our own resources to make food bags for our students and delivering them to their homes. I would use the money to stock up our in-school food bank so we can help more families.”
