Kylie has faced homelessness while balancing work and school. Despite her hardships, she’s only ever been loving to her students. Shannon tells us she deserves some Christmas magic, Legacybox is helping us spread some this holiday season.

I am nominating my co-worker Kiley. She is a 20 year old who found herself homeless this year after a terrible situation in her life. She is working a full time job and going to school to become and early childhood educator. She rescued a senior dog off the streets of New Orleans. This dog was attacked by a dog that lived in a house that she thought was safe. She used her money to give her senior dog the best life and medical care. His name is Skooby. She crochets little outfits to keep him warm. This crochet skill is how she gives gifts to our students.

We were so scared that due to her homelessness we would lose her as a worker and her educational journey would be in jeopardy. During this time, she never missed work. She never came with a sour attitude. Always smiling and caring for the children. Being a teacher when you have that going on is tough. Our leadership team came together to find a way for her to get extra work hours and she found a place of her own. She is starting over.
