As part of our Salute to Veterans, today we honor Johnny Dickson. He was awarded 3 medals during his service and is now a high school chemistry teacher/bus driver. Hear how he reacts to a surprise vacation, thanks to VISIT FLORIDA!

“Johnny Dickson should be honored for his service in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1989-1993. During Operation Desert Storm, he helped destroy Saddam Hussein’s Republican Guard compounds, which held tons of Hussein’s weapons. Johnny Dickson was awarded 3 medals during his service, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM), and the Southwest Asia Service Medal (SASM). Currently Johnny is a high school chemistry teacher and bus driver for White Oak ISD in White Oak, Texas. So many of his past and current students look up to him. He is absolutely the best teacher! He is a true mentor who encourages each student not just about chemistry but LIFE! So many students who thought they were not suited for college have become engineers or have joined the military because of Johnny. As a bus driver he tells each and every student good morning and in the afternoon he asks each student how their day was. He always goes above and beyond on everything he does.”
