Dolly Parton organizing telethon for Tennessee wildfire victims

Gayle King’s job security… Leo met with Donald Trump about the environment… “Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actors”… Sia getting a divorce… and Dolly Parton organizing telethon for Tennessee wildfire victims

It must feel good to know that you’ve got a job for at least another 3 years! Page Six is reporting that “CBS This Morning” has signed Gayle King on for another 3 years at $5.5 million per year. This show trails behind its rivals on NBC and ABC, BUT! “CBS This Morning” is the only morning news show showing any growth in ratings. “Good Morning America” is actually down a little and the ratings at “Today” remained flat.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s candidate didn’t win, but this is what he’s got to work with. So yesterday, Leo and the CEO of his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation had a meeting with President-elect Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka to talk about the cause he’s most passionate about — the environment. Leo wanted to discuss how jobs focusing on renewable, clean energy could boost the economy. Leo produced a documentary on the environmental crisis called “Before the Flood.” He gave a copy of it to Ivanka. When he was introducing it at the Toronto International Film Festival a couple months ago, he said, “We cannot afford to have leaders in office who do not believe in the modern science of climate change. This needs to be at the forefront of every conversation in world politics.”

Forbes LOVES lists. And they are now out with their list of “Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actors.” Topping the list for the second consecutive year is Johnny Depp. Forbes figures that for every dollar he was paid this year, Johnny’s movies grossed $2.80. Right behind Johnny is Will Smith, whose movies grossed $5 for every dollar he was paid. Channing Tatum’s box office return was $6 for every dollar, putting him in third.

Sia and her husband Erik Anders Lang are divorcing after two years of marriage. The couple released a joint statement saying they’re dedicated to remaining friends and that, basically, they have nothing else to say about it. She’s so private that we don’t know exactly how don’t Erik and Sia were together, but we do know they were only engaged for two months before they tied the knot.

Dolly Parton has organized a good old-fashioned telethon to raise money for the victims of the Tennessee wildfires that destroyed more than 1700 homes in Gatlinburg and left 14 people dead. She asked her good friends Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers and Alison Krauss to join her for the event, which will air this coming Tuesday on the Great American Country network. Proceeds fro the telethon will go to the My People Fund which Dolly created with the goal of providing $1000 a month to families whose homes were destroyed or damaged by the wildfires. Meantime, two juveniles are facing charges of aggravated arson in connection with the wildfire. Additional charges are being considered. All authorities will say is that these juveniles are from Tennessee. We don’t know their age or sex.
