Weekend box office news… Lionel Richie is in negotiations with American Idol… The cast of “Big Brother 19” leaked… Beyonce had her twins… and Is Miley Cyrus ruining brother Braison’s modeling debut?
Lots of people piled into air-conditioned theaters to catch a movie this weekend! “Cars 3” debuted in the top spot with $53.5 million, bumping “Wonder Woman” down to second with $40.8 million. Coming in third was the new Tupac Shakur movie, “All Eyez on Me” with $27 million. That one’s getting slammed by everybody, including Jada Pinkett Smith who says her relationship with Tupac was misrepresented. And the new Scarlett Johansson movie “Rough Night” was a stinker, opening in seventh.
TMZ is reporting that “American Idol” is in negotiations with Lionel Richie to sign on as their next official judge alongside Katy Perry. But can they afford someone of his legend and caliber?? Katy’s already signed on for $25 million, but they’re trying to scrape up enough money to satisfy him. And Ryan Seacrest reportedly is close to signing his deal, which is said to be between $10M-$15M.
The cast of “Big Brother 19” will be announced OFFICIALLY a bit later this morning, but all the names have already been leaked…..including Elena Davies — the Selfie Queen who got a job with the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show thanks to her tweets to the show members! Of course, we can’t ask her about it because she’s on lockdown right now. But you know what this means…….For the first time, I’ll be watching “Big Brother!” The premiere episode is Wednesday, June 28.
It took a few days for news to get out, but Beyonce gave birth to her twins last Monday, June 12, at UCLA Medical Center. They got one of each! A boy and a girl! And 5-year-old Blue Ivy is a very proud big sister. We’re still waiting to find out the new babies’ names. Beyonce and her babies are still in the hospital. Reportedly, a “minor issue” is keeping them there, but everything is expected to be fine. Meantime, Jay Z announced yesterday that he’s releasing his 13th studio album, “4:44,” on Friday, June 30.
I can only imagine Braison Cyrus immediately calling big sister Miley and saying, “You are RUINING this for me!!” Braison made his runway modeling debut in a Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan this weekend. Miley gave a back-handed congratulations to her brother on Instagram, saying in part: “It’s never been my little brothers dream to be a model as HE is one of the most talented musicians my ears have ever been given the gift of hearing…. BUT it is a Cyrus family trait to try everything once (within reason HA)….” After a few more words of praise, Miley added this PS to Dolce & Gabanna: “I STRONGLY disagree with your politics…. but I do support your company’s effort to celebrate young artists & give them the platform to shine their light for all to see!” Stefano Gabbana was having none of that. First he commented on Miley’s post, “Ignorant!” And then he commented again saying, “For your stupid comment never more work with him” with two hearts. THEN, Stefano retweeted Miley’s post and captioned it, “We are Italian and we don’t care about politics and mostly neither about the American one! We make dresses and if you think about doing politics with a post it’s simply ignorant. We don’t need your posts or comments so next time please ignore us!! #boycottdolcegabbana” Then he added a bunch of laughing-until-I’m-crying emojis and a heart.
