Big Al’s Blog: Recess Redo

In Exactly one month, I will be a dog owner again. I’m so excited. I guess I need to start getting my house together. Its been well over a year. Maybe, it’s even been closer to two years since I’ve been a doggie daddy. I’m looking forward to all of the good parts like walking him, showing off all the cool tricks that he can do. But all of the not so fun stuff…I’m dreading that stuff. and at the top of that list? Going out to the bathroom. Especially when its 20 degrees, raining and windy. Ugh, can I just get right to the fun parts?

asleep-in-plateYesterday was a fun day. My sister was in town so I got to see her for the first time in a few months. in fact, I saw mom and dad too. I actually went to church for the first time in over 2 months. I saw my girlfriend for a little while too but she had dinner plans at her cousin’s house and I was too tired to go. I think she was a little mad that I didn’t go but I know that I would have just fallen asleep. We have been dating for over a year. Where has all of the time gone? Everyone is asking me Is SHE the one? I don’t know for sure but I do hope so.

Shout out to Chattanooga, Tn. That’s where I spent part of my day on Friday. I went to visit the school that won the Recess Redo. That was a contest between schools that awarded the winning school a $10,000 gift card from The Home Depot. The winning school was Snow Hill Elementary school and I have to say the kids there were so well-behaved. All of them were gathered in the cafeteria and the principle was speaking to them and I went in and interrupted her, Kanye West style. Of course she knew I was coming but no one else did. It was actually pretty cool. Anyway, they will be getting started on their new playground TODAY!

On my way back, I ran into one of the greatest running backs of all time at the airport. Hershel Walker is a guy that I had met way back in the day but I haven’t seen him in years and I ran into him on the airport train. He introduced me to his kid and fiancé and then he mentioned Dish Nation. He asked his fiancé, “Isn’t that the show I watch at night while I’m doing my sit-ups?” she nodded “Yes.” So, apparently Hershel Walker does sit-ups for 30 minutes every night. I don’t think I can do sit ups through one 30 second commercial, much less during a 30 minute TV show. So SHOUT OUT to Hershel. Do a sit up for me!
