Blake Shelton was in town on Friday night and I was determined to go to this show. My friend, Whiskey Neat, agreed to go with me but after she heard the itinerary that I had planned, she told me that she probably would not be able to go. Well, she said she needed to get home by midnight and she didn’t want to be the reason that I had to change my plans. So, she took herself out of the equation. I’ve never had a girl accept a date invitation and then tell me that I should take someone else. But there were no hard feelings.
So, I took an old friend. A friend that I had met years ago but I had never gone out with. We got to the concert in time for the meet and greet before the show. Being the “old friend” of Blake like I am, I remember saying to my date, if he actually calls me up on the meet and greet stage, I’ll need you to be ready to video that please. Well, there was no need for that…I didn’t get closer than 40 feet from Blake. He was as awesome as ever but there was no, “Hey, Big Al!” like last time. He did some questions and answers for the group of about 100 or so, he sang a couple songs, and that was it.
After that, we went to our seats and enjoyed the show. We left before the show was over to head to my restaurant in Waxahachie, Texas (a 30 minute ride), to sing some Karaoke. So, no beer with Blake! The streak continues!
