Big Al’s Blog: Happy Birthday Mommy!

Today is my mom’s birthday. Happy Birthday Mommy! I am going to take her to a nice lunch today. Mom doesn’t really like a lot of fancy stuff but she does like to eat. So, a salad will do just fine. If you were to ask me what characteristic of mine is a direct result of my upbringing from my mother, I think I would have to say… kindness. My mom has to be one of the kindest people on the planet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her get really upset with anyone. But she will go out of her way to get groceries for neighbors when they are not able to get out and about. Not to mention how she takes care of my dad. She is always there for him. And even though she was an Art teacher for 99 years and my dad was the Entrepreneur in the family, she did have some ambition to do business as well. She sold costume jewelry, she sold Rainbow Vacuum cleaners. She wasn’t the die hard, at the business every day like my dad, but she knew how to make a sale as well.

So mom, I just want to say I love you and Thank You for making me the person that I am. I’m certainly not perfect, but all of the good parts came from you. By the way mom, your first drink is free tonight at the MAT!

I’m watching DWTS last night and I have one question…who dances like that? Ok, I get American Idol. Everyone goes to a concert from time to time. The Voice, X-Factor, I get all of those. But who dances? If a girl asked me to go Ballroom Dance, I would be done with that relationship so fast. But there I was. I watched a good 30 minutes of it until I decided that I couldn’t take it anymore.

This Friday, its meeting day. Not just any meeting…It’s a meeting in another country, Mexico. And then I come back here to spend my Saturday afternoon at home. This is going to be the fastest, shortest trip to Playa del Carmen in history. But it has to be done. I’m going to meet with my English speaking and non-English speaking employees. This should be fun.
