J-Si’s Blog: Whoa! Thangs have changed!

For the first 7 months of Cason’s life, I was with him every single day, while Kinsey was at work. Kinsey ended up quitting her job about two months ago so that she could stay home with the lil man. She is still trying to get her company off the ground, so she usually needs me to watch Cason for three to four hours, but he is usually napping for about an hour and a half during this time.

Well, yesterday Kinsey took a job out of town and was gone all day long. Since I used to stay with Cason all day long, he has learned to crawl to things, stand up, walk around, and get into everything. That would be very tiring all on it’s own! To make matters worse, Kinsey took him to the doctor, before leaving, after we called every day for two weeks straight. The nurse pretty much told us that we should wait it out, but Kinsey had her “mommy alarm” going off, but the nurse kept telling us to wait it out and give him Tylenol. I didn’t really have a “daddy alarm”, unless you count the 5 times a night Cason would wake up screaming. Turns out Kinsey was right because he has a double ear infection, a sinus infection, and both eyes have an infection building up. Poor guy! So on top of his exploration, he was very fussy, and he had to take medicine. The medicine was the biggest problem. The first time I attempted to give it to him, it did not go well. I was trying to ease it in there and not get it all over the place… I failed. He spit the medicine out, all over my face… twice. I was pretty frustrated.

I also attempted to give him a bath too, but he kept standing up, and when I tried to make him sit down, he shot me. He shot me right in the arm… could have been worse. So lets just say that after my staying home with sick Cason all day long has made me appreciate what Kinsey has dealt with the last few weeks. Babies are easy to hang with, until they start moving, and getting sick. How are moms so freaking good at this?! Props to the mommies out there. I was in frustration nation. ha!
