Overachieving Teacher Winner

Today’s overachieving teacher is April Courtney and she is planning on using the money to purchase items for multisensory learning! Read what she wrote about her class below.

“I am a dyslexia teacher for Fort Worth ISD. The last 10 years, there has been more awareness on dyslexia, but many of the things the students with dyslexia need aren’t provided because the awareness had been lacking compared to other disabilities. Students use mirrors, whiteboards, things like sand or shaving cream to have multisensory learning. My students are also in need of some things for their readers theater we are doing for the school this year! There are always tons of things I need to purchase for my dyslexia students, but after losing my 6 year old daughter I’m the only one working.”
