Baby Reindeer is the hottest thing on Netflix right now now. Since it premiered on April 11, it’s logged more than 16M views, making it Netflix’s most-watched series in the US and ranking in the Top 10 in 89 countries. In the series, Richard Gadd plays a struggling comedian name Donny Dunn, who’s being stalked by a woman who nicknames him “Baby Reindeer.” This is a fictionalized account of what happened to Richard in real life. Over a 3-year span, Richard’s stalker reportedly sent him over 40K emails, 350 hours worth of voicemails, 106 pages of letters, dozens of social media messages and crazy gifts like a reindeer toy and sleeping pills. The series also covers Richard’s experience of being drugged and sexually abused by an older comedian. But Richard has a request for fans of the series – please stop trying to figure out who the real-life characters are. A couple days ago, British actor/writer/director Sean Foley — who directed Gadd in Urban Myths in 2019 — wrote on social media that he had to call the police because people thought he was one of the people depicted in Baby Reindeer and he was getting threatening messages on social media. So Richard went on social media asking people to please stop. He wrote, “People I love, have worked with, and admire (including Sean Foley) are unfairly getting caught up in speculation. Please don’t speculate on who any of the real-life people could be. That’s not the point of our show.” Sean Foley shared the post. Hopefully, that helps with the threats against him.

Patrick Mahomes says he’s been asked to host Saturday Night Live, but he doesn’t think he’s ready yet. Patrick has a fear of reading off a teleprompter. When he guested on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, Patrick talked about the time he had to go on stage to thank LA firefighters who battled fires when the Chiefs were playing the Rams. He practiced all night looking in the mirror because he wanted to be well-prepared. But when he finally got on stage and started talking, he didn’t know where to make eye contact, so he ended up looking at the teleprompter. He said, “I’m reading … I’m doing great … and I see SO, and I’m like, ‘And for all the firefighters out there in South Carolina. My bad! Southern California…” Now, ever since then, I’m terrified of teleprompters…” But maybe when Patrick finally realizes SNL uses cue cards and not teleprompters, he’ll have a change of heart.

For years now, the most iconic part of Rihanna’s online identity has been her Instagram profile image. It’s a simple, relatively crude illustration of an expressionless character with curly hair. Rihanna has used this as her avatar since 2014. It was there for Anti…it was there for the launch of Fenty Beauty…it was there for the births of her two baby boys…But over the weekend, without any fanfare, Rihanna changed her Instagram profile image to a photo of a Fenty product being held by what looks like a stick-figure hand, perhaps belonging to the previous beloved illustration. Fans were devastated by the change. One shared an “In Loving Memory” video that racked up almost 3M views! But Rihanna felt her fans’ pain, and the no-expression doodle was put back this morning.

It’s been 30 years, but the debate over OJ Simpson’s innocence or guilt for the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and 25-year-old waiter Ron Goldman continues. He was acquitted of murder charges, but found liable in a civil trial a few years later. Writer and director Joshua Newton talk to The Hollywood Reporter about a new movie he has in the works called The Juice, which is primarily about attorney Douglas McCann, who represented OJ during the 2000 civil case. Joshua has been working on this since 2015, and he told THR that he had only one actor in mind for the lead. He said, “Owen Wilson was perfect for the role. I actually had a meeting with him in Santa Monica. Everybody loved the script. His agent wanted him to do it. We offered him $12 million. But at the end of the lunch, Owen stood up and said, ‘If you think I’m going to take the lead role in a movie about how OJ didn’t do it, you’ve got to be kidding me.’” Douglas went on to find another “spot on” actor for the role, but he didn’t disclose his identity. Joshua is hoping to finalize production on his movie by October 3, 2025, which will be the 30th anniversary of OJ not-guilty verdict in the criminal trial.

A lot of people are disgusted that the No. 1 overall pick in the WBNA draft will earn a measly $76K base salary to play with the Indiana Fever. But don’t cry for Caitlin Clark! According to the Wall Street Journal, she is close to signing an 8-year, $28M contract with Nike that includes a signature shoe. This deal would be the richest sponsorship contract for a women’s basketball player in history. Reportedly, Puma was interested in signing Caitlin, but bailed when they were told bidding would start at $3M per year. Under Armour reportedly offered Caitlin $16M, while Adidas pitched $6M over four years, with both including a signature shoe. But it was Nike that came with the big bucks!
