“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on top… Nick Carter is officially off the market… How Selena Gomez’s mom found out she was fired… Coachella kicked off with lots of surprises… and Celeb news at the MTV Movie Awards

It was a close race, but “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” came out on top, earning another $41.4 million in its second weekend at the box office. “Rio 2” came in second place, debuting with $39 million. In third place was a low-budget horror movie called “Oculus” with $12 million. Debuting in fourth place was Kevin Costner’s “Draft Day,” which took in a disappointing $9.8 million. And rounding out the top five was “Divergent,” with another $7.5 million.

He was the youngest and squeal-worthiest member of the Backstreet Boys. Nick Carter is officially off the market, ladies! He married fitness expert and “actress” Lauren Kitt overlooking the ocean in Santa Barbara on Saturday. Guests included fellow Backstreet Boys Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean, whose daughter, Ava, was a flower girl. Where was Kevin Richardson?? A guest at the wedding told “Us Weekly” that at the end of the ceremony, Nick and Lauren shared the longest wedding kiss he’d ever seen. We can see for ourselves sooner or later because the whole thing was filmed for a TV special.

Guess how Selena Gomez’s mom found out she was fired as her manager? From TMZ! Selena’s mom, Mandy Teefey, says she and her husband sat down with Selena after TMZ broke the story on Thursday, asking if Selena was sure this was what she wanted to do. Mandy told TMZ they had a conversation about it about a month ago, but she thought at that point it was just talk. So to read that she and her husband had been fired on TMZ is a lot to process. Mandy says, however, that she respects her daughter’s decision, and still plans to continue producing several movie projects with Selena, including the upcoming “The Sky is Everywhere.”

Coachella kicked off the first of its two weekends with lots of surprises. The event was headlined by the reunion of OutKast, plus Arcade Fire, Lorde, Queens of the Stoneage, Beck, Kid Cudi and Lana Del Rey. But the crowd went crazy nuts when Jay Z and Puff Daddy joined NAS onstage. Pharrell Williams had LOTS of special guests. Diddy and Busta Rhymes joined him for “Pass the Courvesier.” He and Nelly did “Hot in Herre.” Loved Gwen Stefani jumping up there for “Hollerback Girl.” And Snoop Dogg joined Pharrell for “Beautiful” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Solange’s sister Beyonce jumped on stage to join her for “Losing You,” followed by a little choreographed routine. And Justin Bieber played hype man for Chance the Rapper.

The MTV Movie Awards were broadcast last night. Popcorn statues went to “The Hunger Games:  Catching Fire” for Movie of the Year, as well as Best Female Performance for Jennifer Lawrence and Best Male Performance for Josh Hutcherson. But everybody seems to be talking about Zac Efron’s win for Best Shirtless Performance, which ended with Rita Ora ripping open his shirt and Zac revealing his overly spray-tanned abs.  Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster paid tribute to their “Fast & Furious 6” costar, Paul Walker.  And the cast of “Hunger Games” honored the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was in the middle of filming the remaining sequels, “Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2,” when he passed away in February at the age of 46. The studio reportedly plans to use CGI technology to finish his remaining scenes.
