Elvis Presley’s new charge… Scooter Braun is developing a show… Anna Faris speaks out… Chewbacca Mom TV show… and Daniel Craig confirms he’ll play James Bond again
Elvis Presley died 40 years ago today. Every year, his fans make a pilgrimage to Graceland and they hold a candlelight vigil as they walk past his grave. Up until now, it’s been for free. But times are changing! And this year, it will cost fans $28.75 for the right to mourn the King of Rock and Roll. But the family explains that also gets you access to a new $45 million entertainment complex at Graceland, which has exhibits of Elvis’ cars, clothes and other personal items. Some fans were blindsided by the new charge. One said she didn’t think Elvis would like that very much…
Because there’s always room for one more, CBS is developing a new singing competition show with Scooter Braun. We don’t know if Scooter will be in front of the camera or behind the scenes. CBS had a chance to pick up the “American Idol” reboot but passed on it. CEO Les Moonves said at the time that they didn’t like it for a couple of reasons, one being the high cost of producing it.
Anna Faris is speaking out for the first time since she and Chris Pratt announced on their social media that they are legally separated. But she didn’t have much to say. At the beginning of her “Unqualified” podcast, she said, “Hey, dear listeners. I just want to thank you all so much for all the love I’ve been receiving. And I truly love you.” And that was it. Then she got down to the business of podcasting, which includes a lot of cussing, by the way. Apparently, she’s a big fan of that.
Remember how “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” became this out-of-nowhere surprise hit and made Nia Vardalos a star? They tried to turn it into a TV series but it didn’t work out. But now Nia is starring in a new series for Bravo that’s tentatively titled Suburbs Famous, and it was all inspired by Chewbacca Mom! Nia and Chewbacca Mom were both guests on a owning talk show and that’s when a lightbulb went off in Nia’s head. The TV series shows what happens after a suburban housewife — played by Nia — accidentally becomes famous because of a viral video. In a statement, Nia said, “I wanted to explore the concept of sudden fame for someone who isn’t prepared and doesn’t want it, for someone who gets power and doesn’t know what to do with it, as well as what happens next.” I hope what happens next is that Chewbacca Mom gets a cut of that check!
Saying he wants to go out on a high note, Daniel Craig told Stephen Colbert last night that he can’t wait to come back and play James Bond one more time. But this WILL be the last time. Daniel had a five-picture contract and this will be the fifth. Some are thrilled! Others? Not so much. Some of the reactions on Twitter weren’t very positive. “Seriously Daniel Craig is too old to play James Bond, 4 movies was quite enough.” Others were hoping for Idris Elba to take over the role. The next movie doesn’t have a title yet. For now, they’re calling it “Bond 25.” But it’s set to be released in theaters on Nov. 8, 2019.
‘Logan Lucky’ star Daniel Craig saved a big announcement for his appearance on the Late Show.
