In TV and streaming news, there are only three soap operas still in production — General Hospital on ABC, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, both on CBS. Debuting in 1973, Y&R is CBS’ longest-running series, and it just got the green light to go for another 4 seasons, taking it to Season 55 in 2028. It seems like every other day we find out a new cast member has been added to Only Murders in the Building. Hulu first announced Molly Shannon would be debuting in Season 4, along with Ava Longoria. Now we’ve learned Eugene Levy has signed on for the murder mystery series. Speaking of murder mysteries, the Great American Family channel is launching its own mystery movie franchise. Candace Cameron Bure will star in the Great American Mysteries series ‘The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker. Before cutting ties with the Hallmark Channel, Candace starred in their Aurora Teagarden mysteries.

During the Covid lockdowns, Drea de Matteo was close to losing everything. She told the Daily Mail she was down to her last $10 and her house was in foreclosure. In an act of desperation and to provide for her kids, Drea joined OnlyFans. Within the first five minutes, Drea claims she earned enough to pay off the bank and keep her house. She told Daily Mail, “OnlyFans saved my life, 100 percent. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us.” At first, Drea was going to use the platform to launch a podcast with her boyfriend. Realizing that you need to give followers a little something more, she was going to have her boyfriend rub her feet! She ended up going with sexy photos, explaining, “I figured, ‘Okay, so everybody’s in their underwear and being sexy on Instagram and I don’t do that, but I can do that and get paid for it’ … I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner!”

Adele has been put on vocal rest, forcing her to postpone all her Vegas shows for the month of March. At her last show before she was silenced, Adele was struggling to hit some of the notes, telling the audience she sounded like Ursula from The Little Mermaid. On her Instagram yesterday, Adele explained, “I was sick at the end of the last leg (of my residency) and all the way through my break. I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I’m sick again, and unfortunately it’s all taken a toll on my voice.” Under doctor’s orders, she’s going on extended vocal rest. Adele said, “The remaining five weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date. We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information ASAP.”

They say it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission, but that’s not how it works in the music business. In fact, Kanye DID ask for permission to sample Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” for a song on his Vulture album. He got denied, but used it anyway. Now Donna’s estate is suing Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign over it. According to the lawsuit, “In the face of this rejection, Defendants arrogantly and unilaterally decided they would simply steal ‘I FEEL LOVE’ and use it without permission. In their song ‘GOOD (DON’T DIE),’ Defendants re-recorded almost verbatim the key, memorable portions of Summer’s iconic song, used it as the hook for their own song, and released it to the public knowing they had tried and failed to secure legal permission from its rightful owners and had no legal right to do so.” The estate is suing for copyright infringement and they are asking for a jury trial.

There’s a behind-the-scenes documentary for Jennifer Lopez’s This Is Me…Now visual album called The Greatest Love Story Never Told. In it, we find out how many big names passed on the project, with most of them blaming their busy schedules. In one scene, Jennifer’s casting director goes through the rejections she’d gotten so far, including Taylor Swift, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, Lizzo, Vanessa Hudgens and Ariana Grande. Apparently, Khloe Kardashian had agreed to a cameo and backed out. And In the Heights and Hamilton star Anthony Ramos was supposed to play one of JLo’s partners and perform a big dance number with her, but bowed out due to his friendship with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
