Ryan Phillippe’s shoe was cut… Katy Perry will host the VMAs… Drake’s break-in returns… Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are teaming up… and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood buy wedding gifts for fans

Ryan Phillippe was out running around with his kids a couple weeks ago when he broke his leg really badly. It was unfortunate timing because Ryan was in the middle of filming the second season of his USA Network show “Shooter.” Rather than write the injury into the script, producers have decided to scratch the last two episodes, cutting the season down from ten episodes to eight.

MTV announced yesterday that Katy Perry will host the VMAs on August 27th. Katy is also performing and she could be giving a few acceptance speeches, as well. She’s up for five Moonmen, including the one for best pop video for “Chained to the Rhythm.” Kendrick Lamar leads with eight nominations.

Back in April, a 24-year-old woman broke into Drake’s house, put on his hoodie and started drinking his soft drinks. Drake wasn’t home at the time, but members of his crew found her and called police. She was arrested for felony burglary but Drake refused to cooperate with authorities and the charges were dropped. Drake should’ve stuck it to her because this chick showed back up at his house. She showed up yesterday morning and told security that she was on the list. When that didn’t work, the woman refused to leave so the security guard called the police. When three officers showed up, she spit on them. She was working up another mouthful of saliva when the officers sprayed her with pepper spray and placed her under arrest for trespassing and assault on a police officer.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are teaming up to co-star in a new series about TV morning shows. It doesn’t have a title and it doesn’t have a script, but it’s going to be shopped around to premium cable networks and streaming services. You may remember that Reese played Jen’s little sister on “Friends” way back when. It’s been 13 years since that showed signed off, but recently Jennifer told Variety that she’s been thinking a lot about returning to the small screen because “that’s where the work is.”

This couple showed up for Garth Brooks’ concert in Lafayette holding a neon green poster board that said, “BEST WEEK EVER: Garth this Friday – our wedding next Friday.” They were in their floor seats when Garth saw them, talked to them a bit from the stage and then sang “To Make You Feel My Love” for them After that, Garth asked the couple what they wanted from their registry because, he said, “Me and Mrs. Yearwood, we’ll get it for you.” Well, wouldn’t you know that the bride-to-be had a wedding invitation in her purse! She handed it to Garth on the stage and what do you know! Garth meant what he said! The couple received SEVERAL gifts from their registry, courtesy of Garth and Trisha! They got a couple lounge chairs, a KitchenAid mixer, an iron, a meat-grinder, a string of industrial patio lights and a few other items. The bride says she’s going to label them all with tags that say “From Garth Brooks.”
