Holiday TV specials… box office weekend news… Couple convicted of fraud and tax crimes… Pete Davidson & Emily Ratajkowski update… and Harry Styles & Olivia Wilde have broken up

If you’re already in the holiday spirit or you’re trying really hard to get there, it always helps to watch holiday movies and TV specials. If you turn on the Hallmark Channel and it’s the same movie you’ve already watched over and over again, maybe it’s time to check out what’s happening on good ol’ network TV. On ABC this week, tonight is the season premiere of “The Great Christmas Light Fight.” And if watching “Love Actually” is part of your annual holiday tradition, tomorrow night is the brand new “The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later – A Diane Sawyer Special.” Over on CBS, the holiday classic, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” will air tomorrow night. That will be followed by the brand new “Reindeer in Here,” featuring the voices of Adam Devine, Jim Gaffigan, Melissa Villaseñor, Henry Winkler, Candace Cameron Bure, and Donald Faison, just to name a few. And Tuesday night is a big night on NBC. It kicks off with “Michael Bublé’s Christmas in the City,” followed by the tree lighting ceremony on the “90th Annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center.” Alicia Keys, Jimmie Allen, Andrea Bocelli , Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are among those scheduled to appear. Then right after that is “Kelly Clarkson Presents: When Christmas Comes Around.” However, I’m looking forward to Thursday night when “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas” premieres on NBC. Among her special guests are Jimmy Fallon, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Dolly’s goddaughter, Miley. By the way, Dolly will co-host Miley’s New Year’s Eve party on NBC.

Excluding the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, this was the worst three-day Thanksgiving weekend at the US box office ever. Only $95M in ticket sales were generated over the first 3 days of the holiday weekend, the lowest amount since 1994, when ticket prices averaged $4.08. Looking at the 5-day totals, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was first with $64M. Number two was Disney’s new animated movie “Strange World,” which brought in less than $19M over those same 5 days. This movie reportedly cost between $130M-$180M to produce, so this is a huge bomb. In fact, “Strange World” is the worst opening for a Disney animated feature since 2000’s “The Emperor’s New Groove,” which debuted with just under $10M over a 3-day weekend.

‘STRANGE WORLD’ is estimated to earn $19M in the film’s 5-day domestic box office opening weekend, one of Disney Animation’s worst openings of all time.

Back in June, reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted on charges that included bank fraud and tax evasion. Last week, Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison and Julie was sentenced to 7 years. They each got the same 16 months probation. When the sentencing was announced, the USA Network canceled their TV series, “Chrisley Knows Best.” Of course, the Chrisleys are appealing the decision. While they’re supposed to surrender on or before January 15, 2023, their attorney Alex Little is hoping the judge will allow his clients to remain free throughout the appeals process, which could take about 2 years.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Bumble’s chief brand officer Selby Drummond shared a photo of Pete Davidson and Emily Ratajkowski at a Friendsgiving dinner. And while paparazzi caught them sneaking around on a date over a week ago, Pete and EmRata weren’t hiding from anybody as they sat courtside at Madison Square Garden last night. By the way, the Grizzlies beat the Knicks, 127-123. While they haven’t made any official statement, are Pete and EmRata letting us know they’re a couple? And will their couple name be PeteRata?

Pretty much the minute we signed off the air to go on our Kidd’s Kids trip followed by Thanksgiving break, news broke that Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde had broken up and that it was an “amicable decision.” Sources said it all boiled down to their busy schedules. Harry is about to take his tour worldwide starting in Mexico, and Olivia not only has her children to care for, she also has work obligations keeping her here in the US. But it’s sounding like this was more of Harry’s decision than hers. A source told “People” that Olivia is disappointed they couldn’t work through their issues and that the breakup has been difficult for her. Meantime, “The Sun”claims their sources are saying that Harry has been reconnecting with Kendall Jenner. Apparently, she and Devin Booker broke up AGAIN in October.
