Box office weekend news… Emmy winners… Britney Spears conservatorship remains with Jamie… Miley Cyrus & Kaitlynn Carter ‘broke up’… and Kevin Hart & passengers in car crash prep for lawsuit
Movie experts expected “Downton Abbey” to make about $20 million on its opening weekend. It did way better than that! With $31 million, “Downton Abbey” debuted in first place, followed by Brad Pitt’s new movie, “Ad Astra.” That one was projected to make between $15 million and $20 million, and it met expectations with $19.2 million. It still has a long way to go to make up for its $80 million budget! Third place went to the new “Rambo: Last Blood” with $19 million. This is the fifth movie in the Rambo series. Could it be the last?

If you watched the Emmys last night, you were not in the majority. Last year’s Emmys were the least viewed of all time….until this year! Early numbers show that this year’s ratings are down 22 percent from last year! But if you did watch, you saw “Game of Thrones” go out with a bang. It won 12 Emmys out of its record 32 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.

Sources told TMZ that Lynne Spears went to court and asked a judge to kick Jamie Spears out of his role as their daughter Britney’s conservator. But the judge sided with Jamie, and he will continue to oversee all of his daughter’s business affairs. As of right now, there is a temporary conservator running Britney’s day-to-day life, but Jamie is still in charge of all the business deals. James relinquished total control until January to deal with his health and legal issues regarding his grandsons’ restraining orders against him. But no matter what people think of how he’s doing now, TMZ says the people who really know what went down give Jamie credit for saving Britney’s life when he stepped in 12 years ago.

After one lusty month, Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter are done. The two had been inseparable since Liam Hemsworth and the rest of us saw pictures of them making out on a yacht. Sources say Miley and Kaitlynn have been friends forever and they will continue to be friends, but the romantic relationship is over.

Everybody who was in Kevin Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when in plunged off Mulholland Highway on September first is lawyering up. That includes Kevin, who was in the front passenger seat…Jared Black, the man who was driving…and Rebecca Broxterman, Jared’s girlfriend who was sitting in the back seat. Jared sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to the hospital. We still don’t have details on his injuries, but TMZ says they are to his back and chest. Rebecca only suffered minor injuries and didn’t even go to the hospital. But the two of them are expected to sue Kevin because his car didn’t have safety harnesses or airbags. And the company that customized the car could be looking at a lawsuit, too. The argument is since the company is the expert and even if Kevin wanted a custom job without safety harnesses, the company should have refused the job because it wasn’t safe, especially with a powerful, 720 horsepower engine. But then, Jared could be sued by Kevin and Rebecca!
