Weekend box office news… Are Taraji P. Henson and Michael Strahan dating?… DMX is accused of robbing a fan… Chris Martin and Jennifer Lawrence’s Easter weekend getaway… and Kylie Jenner accused of wearing blackface on Instagram
Everybody knew it would be big, but “Furious 7” opened up this weekend with $143.6 million in ticket sales — the biggest opening of any of the “Fast and Furious” movies and making it the 9th-biggest opening of all time. It’s also the biggest movie to open in April. The previous record was set by last year’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which opened with $95 million on the same weekend. Coming in second was the animated “Home” with $27.4 million. And “Get Hard” was third with $12.9 million.
Taraji P. Henson and Michael Strahan reportedly are dating. They met when she filled in for Kelly Ripa as co-host of “Live With Kelly and Michael” and sparks flew. Michael was openly flirting with Taraji on camera, but it turns out he was serious! A source told “Star” magazine that off camera, he kept asking Taraji, “When can I take you out?” She brushed him off at first, but he let her know he was serious. They ended up having a romantic dinner that night at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and they’ve been smitten with each other ever since!
DMX is being investigated for possibly robbing a fan who came up to him at a gas station in Newark early Sunday. The 21-year-old victim told police he recognized the rapper at a gas station as he and his entourage were filling up their fleet of four black Escalades. He said he walked up and started talking to DMX about rap music when one of members of his entourage flashed a gun and demanded money. The fan said he did as he was told and that’s when DMX snatched about $3200 from his hand, jumped in one of the cars and they all took off. He was able to jot down one of the license plates and called the police.
Fresh from his vacation with his ex and the kids, Chris Martin hooked up Jennifer Lawrence over Easter weekend. The two were spotted having lunch at Tavern on the Green in Central Park, and then they took a romantic stroll through Strawberry Fields. The next day, Chris and Jennifer caught a private plane out of New Jersey.
Kylie Jenner stirred people up this weekend with her Instagram photos. She posted some artsy pictures of her wearing bronze makeup and photographed under black and neon lights, captioning them, “What I wish I looked like all the time.” But some people accused Kylie of wearing blackface makeup and tore her apart. She deleted and then reposted the pictures, asking, “Does no body know about lighting??” She then requested that we “all calm down.”
